Original vintage alcohol drink advertising poster for Scotch Ale issued by Wm Younger Co Ltd Brewers in Edinburgh featuring a great cartoon by George E. Studdy (George Ernest Studdy; 1878-1948) of a smiling man in a black tie suit and glasses pouring a bottle of Scotch Ale into a pint glass while his smoking pipe rests on a table below a landscape painting on the wall with hot plates of food including fish and roast meat on the floor being looked at by a dog with a poem below reading: When dinner’s late, or when the meat Is overdone, - unfit to eat, When cook spoils soup and joint and curry, Just drink Scotch Ale and do not worry. The William Younger Company Brewery was founded in Edinburgh in 1778 in the grounds of Holyrood Abbey by Archibald Campbell Younger; the company was registered in 1887 and was producing a quarter of all Scotland's beers by the 1900s; in 1986 the Holyrood Brewery complex closed (now the Scottish Parliament building), and in 2017 the brand was sold to Marston's Brewery.
