A NAVAL ‘STATION KEEPER’ BY CARY, CIRCA 1900, constructed in boxwood with glass aperture and impressed Cary London / 1:60 / Pattern 495, the reverse listing distances perceived; together with another, similar but unmarked, each approximately 3½in. (9cm.) high, (2), Held at arm’s length, when the next ship in formation fills the glass, its distance can be read off the table and line of sail maintained correctly.

(9 x 5.7cm.), Provenance: Sotheby’s, 21st October 1977.
