The top having a moulded edge above a single frieze drawer fitted with brass swing handles on engraved back-plates and set in an ogee arched apron edged in cock-beading. The square cabriole legs terminating on outswept feet, 28 ins (71 cms) high, 27 ins (68 cms) wide, 20½ ins (52 cms) deep.
A 17th Century & Later Monk's Bench/Table converted from a boarded oak coffer. The twin plank top on peg hinges pivoting to form the bench back on square uprights and turned front column supports. The box form seat having a hinged lid and gouge carved front board with chip carved ends, decorated with lozenge & lunette designs enriched with punchwork and initialed BA.
