Three items from the nursery at St Paul's Walden Bury, the childhood home of the Royal Family:a Victorian child's cot, the iron frame with patent adjustable height mechanism, by G H Needham, a Victorian doll's pram, anda Victorian mahogany high chair, with separate base for drawing up to a dining table (3)The vendor is the daughter of Peter McRorie, who was butler to the Bowes-Lyon family at the house. He started in the early years of the 20th century, was called up for service in France and invalided out, having been gassed. He subsequently returned to service at the house and was there during the first years of the lives of the two princesses in the late 1920s and early 1930s. His wife would later relate that Princess Margaret would sing him a song in return for a chocolate. He died in 1935.He was given these when they were replaced by more modern versions, and he used them for his daughter, the current vendor. The Queen Mother was born in the house (probably) in 1900.
