Exshaw and others, 1776 bound with [Colonial Taxation].- [Ferguson (Adam)] Remarks on a Pamphlet Lately Published by Dr. Price..., 72pp., Dublin, Messrs. Whitestone and others, 1776, together 5 pamphlets in 1 vol., bound in differing order, slightly browned, contemporary tree calf, gilt, gilt spine, split but holding, 12mo.⁂ First mentioned a spurious work, Adams did not make this speech and it was not delivered to the Congress.

Information respecting the Eastern Townships of Lower Canada...for the Sale and Settlement of Lands..., first edition, folding lithographed map with partial hand-colouring, folding table (bound in tightly so that unable to fold out), 1833 bound with Grainger (James) An Essay on the more common West-India Diseases; and...some hints on the Management, &c of Negroes, second edition, lacking half-title, 8pp. publishers' catalogue and additional advertisement leaf for the author's poetical works at end, some light foxing, Edinburgh, 1802, together 2 works in 1 vol., modern morocco-backed marbled boards, spine slightly faded, 8vo ⁂ Both scarce. The second work, originally published in 1764, was by a physician and poet who also wrote The Sugar Cane, a long poem describing the cultivation of sugar. The present work was highly regarded for its humane proposals for slave-management and this edition includes at the end a list of West Indian plants Grainger recommended for medical purposes, with their Linnaean names.
Americas.- Wallace (Alfred Russel) A Narrative of Travels on the Amazon and Rio Negro, with an Account of the Native Tribes..., first edition, tinted lithographed frontispiece, lithographed map and 8 plates, folding letterpress table of vocabularies, without advertisements at end, light foxing to frontispiece and title, a few pencil annotations to final leaf, bookplate of J.C.Hawkshaw, contemporary half morocco, spine gilt, t.e.g., slightly rubbed, upper joint cracked, 8vo, 1853.⁂ The author's first work, which established his reputation.
World.- Rizzi-Zannoni (Giovanni Antonio) Atlas Geographique contenant la Mappemonde et les quatre Parties avec les differents Etats d'Europe, engraved throughout with hand-coloured allegorical frontispiece, title with hand-coloured pictorial border, 2pp. Table, double-page hand-coloured diagram of Ptolomy's sphere and 30 hand-coloured double-page maps mounted on stubs, no text, faint contemporary ink signature at head of title, attractive contemporary red morocco, gilt, spine gilt with black roan label, g.e., very slightly rubbed, small chip to head of spine, 12mo, Paris, 1762.
Alps.- Grüner (Gottlieb Sigmund) Histoire Naturelle des Glacieres de Suisse, translated by M.Kéralio, first French edition, half-title, engraved frontispiece, 2 folding maps and 18 plates, 4 folding, and folding table, with final blank leaf, occasional foxing, light water-staining to inner margin at beginning and end, bookplate of Oscar V.Viney, modern roan, spine gilt, slightly rubbed at edges, [Perret 2072], 4to, Paris, Pancoucke, 1770. ⁂ Originally published in 1760 as Die Eisgebirge des Schwezerlandes this was the first attempt to describe the Swiss Alps in detail and includes a section on glaciers and geology. According to Perret plate XIII features the earliest known panoramic view of Mont Blanc.

An Antique Walnut Recreation/Sewing Table, with decorative foliate boxwood inlay, lift-up lid to reveal an inlaid games table for back gammon, cribbage and chess. A single pull-out drawer reveals a fitted sewing compartment with accessories; with inlaid walnut work basket with further sewing accessories. The table raised on turned legs and stretcher terminating to cabriole feet with porcelain casters, approx 55 x 41.3 x 71 cms.
A Fine Regency Rosewood Card Table, the rectangular top with reeded corners, inlaid with satinwood cross banding, dividing and swivelling to afford access to the 'well' beneath, raised on a centre column supported by a platform base with concave sides and inlaid with fretted brass anthemions. Raised on elegant double curved legs terminating in leaf capped brass castors, approx 90 x 74 x 74 cms.
A Georgian & Victorian matched Scottish silver fiddle pattern canteen of cutlery, the 55 piece set in a fitted mahogany two tier box by Elkington & Co Ltd., comprising twelve dinner forks (eight by Hamilton Crichton & Co., Edinburgh 1879 and four by Lawrence Aitchison, Glasgow 1839); twelve dessert forks (six by Hamilton Crichton & Co., Edinburgh 1879 and six by Lawrence Aitchison Glasgow 1839); six teaspoons (three by Alexander Henderson, Edinburgh 1819, two by Lawrence Aitchison, Glasgow 1842 and one by George White, Glasgow 1829); twelve table spoons (ten by Hamilton Crichton & Co, Edinburgh 1879 and two by George White, Glasgow 1828); twelve dessert spoons (eight by Hamilton Crichton & Co, Edinburgh 1879 and one each by Robert Grey & Son, Glasgow 1832; George White, Glasgow 1828; Charles Lias, London 1845; and Solomon Hougham, London 1789); the ladle by Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh 1837, all with armorial beneath terminals with motto 'Inveniam Aut Faciam' (Either find a way or make one), gross weight 96.9 tr.oz.* Condition: All pieces in good condition, with clear marks, clean needed. Box fair/good, with major scuffing to lower edges, comes with original key.
