An extremely fine Regency period rosewood Card Table, the attractive figured fold-over top with large band of satinwood inlay, over an inlaid and beaded frieze on a turned and reeded pillar support, the platform base with four outsplayed scroll legs, with original decorated brass castors, approx. 92cms (36") wide. (1) * Provenance: Fota House, Co. Cork.
Sir Gerald Festus Kelly, 1879-1972 A "Half-length Portrait of Lady Gregory", wearing a black dress with diamond cross, and a mantilla, and seated by a table with hands crossed", O.O.C., 76 x 63.5cms (30" x 25") signed and dated in top left corner, in original gilt frame. Sir G.F. Kelly born a Londoner, but married an Irish Woman 'Jane Ryan'. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy from 1905 and was elected an Academician in 1914. One of the paintings listed in the Exhibition of 1914 was No. 219 - Lady Gregory. From an early day she was a friend of Hugh Lane, who possibly commissioned this dignified and accomplished Portrait of his Aunt. In addition, the frame contains an old exhibition label which reads the 'Royal Academy of Arts, Diploma Gallery, 1957 (Kelly Exhibition). The name and address of owner at that time was Mrs. Guy Gough, The Old House, Bramley, Surrey. Provenance : Direct descent of the Gough Family to the present owner, a direct descendant of Lady Gregory.
An important 19th Century carved oak octagonal Library Table, the flip top with large floral and leaf carved frieze, over a decorated pillar on quatreform base with four scroll feet and four small lion masks, approx. 130cms (51") wide. (1) Provenance: Johnstown Castle, Co. Wexford.
A fine quality 19th Century French Louis Philippe period Display Table, in the style of a Bonheur-du-Jour, inlaid and crossbanded with walnut, kingwood and rosewood, the super structure central pediment cabinet with glazed door, the moulded top with brass banding over ormolu mounts, flanked by lower cabinets either side, each with inlaid doors applied with oval Sevres plaques, with ribbon tied ormolu mounts, over a shallow serpentine table top with three blind parquetry drawers, on parquetry panelled and tapering blocked legs, 120cms x 130cms (47" x 51").
