Comprising: The Banquet, parts 1 & 2; Philebus, parts 1 & 2; Meno; The Rivals (2 copies); Io; The Lesser Hippias. Floyer Sydenham (1710-1787) was a Greek scholar and a Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford, who devoted himself to translating the works of Plato. His translations of the ÔDialoguesÕ were the first English translations of most of them; they were first published separately (1759-1780) and subsequently collected, and are not commonly found complete.
