A Goncalo Alves early Victorian turnover top tea table, well figured, with recessed frieze with applied mouldings and raised on a faceted column with downswept legs terminating in castors. Width 36 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Generally in good order. The top has old surface scratches and marks but no significant issues. Warping to the top is minimal and not problematic. All crossbanding around the edge is present . The frieze is in good order. The base is structurally sound as are the legs. There is no damage, no repairs & no restoration of any note.
A Regency mahogany adjustable table, with circular top, turned and reeded column and with three downswept legs. Diameter 14 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in generally good order. The top is flat. When viewed from the rear it is clearly one piece of mahogany. However when viewed from the top there are two veneer joins marks to the left and right hand side of the table. As there are no brass supporting brackets it is possible that these sections of veneer cover the existing support bracket holes that one would expect to see. The angled supporting bracket that would have fitted through the top block of the table is missing. The hinges look to be later replacements. There are also some marks around the catch. The adjusting knob and brasswork on the column appear to be correct. The column is in generally good order with only minor stress fractures. All of the legs are in good condition with no significant damage. We can see no repairs or any restoration other than the two sections of veneer already referred to. Our opinion is that the table has been used as an occasional table rather than a reading table hence the removal of the brackets.
A 19th century inlaid satinwood Pembroke table, with rectangular drop flaps and fitted with a frieze drawer and opposing dummy drawer with brass drop handles and raised on slim tapered legs of square section. Width 19 ins, length 30 ins. CONDITION REPORT: On closer inspection of this table it is not Victorian but later. It is probably American and possibly as late as 1950.
An Edwardian inlaid rosewood twin drop flap side table, each flap of butterfly wing shaped outline and the whole inlaid with bone and boxwood, fitted with a single drawer with brass handles, with low galleried shelf and raised on castors. Width 19 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This table is generally in very good condition. The top surface has some slight polish imperfections caused by liquid but these are not particularly problematic. Neither flap is warped and the inlay is generally in good order and is not lifting. The legs are all in good condition and the castors which are original are also in good order. The low shelf has some minor watermarks. Three of the four pierced galleries are in good order. The right hand gallery has one small loss to the rear section. The side flaps do not quite fold down completely vertically. This could easily be rectified if considered necessary.
A Georgian mahogany side table, with moulded edge, single drawer and raised on turned legs terminating in pad feet. Width 27 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The rear up stand is partially missing. The top has several old liquid marks and various old repairs some filled with wax. The top is also quite badly scratched. The drawer has slight woodworm to the runners which has long gone. The drawer front has some cock beading missing and one handle detached. There are repairs to the tops of the legs however the piece is structurally sound. It really requires restoration.
A Regency mahogany sofa table, each flap crossbanded and with rounded corners, fitted with two frieze drawers and raised on downswept legs united by a turned centre stretcher. Width 34 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The sofa table is generally in good condition. The top is not warped and neither are the flaps. The frieze drawers are in good order and have had only one set of handles which appear to be original. The centre stretcher is in good condition as are the legs. The castors are original and solid. Width closed 34 ins, width open 55 ins, height to top 28.25 ins.
A Victorian walnut dwarf Sutherland table, with oval flaps supported by bobbin turned columns and with downswept scroll feet. Width 20.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This table is in good untouched, original condition. The veneer to the top and flaps is in good order with no significant losses or damage. There are old minor marks but no significant issues. The flaps are not warped. The turned supports are all in good condition and the castors are original. The table is structurally solid and could be used in its current condition without the need for any repair or restoration.
A Victorian walnut small Sutherland table, each flap with rounded corners supported by turned columns and legs and with downswept feet. Width 23 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This table requires some restoration. Both flaps are flat and not warped and do not have any significant losses. The centre of the top has water damage to one quadrant. This should be visible from our image. The water damage has slightly extended down onto the flap and the surface is rough to the touch in places. The end supporting block at the top of the leg has evidence of old woodworm and veneer damage. The opposite end is a replacement mahogany block. The turned supports are in good order as are the legs which are nothing other than dirty. Both gate legs are loose at the joints but are original. General restoration is required.
A Georgian mahogany sofa table, crossbanded and with moulded edge, fitted with two frieze drawers and raised on four downswept legs terminating in brass castors. Width 36 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The sofa table is generally in good structural order. It does however require a polish in our opinion. The top is a little stained and dry. Particularly the crossbanded veneer which does have a small loss to the top left hand corner. The flaps are not warped but a little faded. The drawer handles are later replacements but go through the original holes. The drawer fronts are again faded. Three of the legs are in good condition, one has had an old repair to the upper section which will be visible from our image. The castors look to be Victorian rather than earlier.
A Victorian walnut games table, with shaped edge, backgammon, cribbage and checkerboard, with frieze drawer, wooden bag beneath and scroll and foliate carved legs. Width 27 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This table is in first class condition. The top is flat and of good colour. The interior games surface is also in very good order. The piece has clearly been professionally restored in recent years and is ready to either use or resell without the need for any further repairs or restoration. The only really minor visible repair is across the backgammon playing surface where a crack has been rectified. This should be visible from our image. The piece is structurally extremely solid.
A mahogany coffee table, with panelled top, tray edge and raised on cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet. Width 34 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Generally very good condition. Structurally sound. There are one or two minor surface scratches and scuffs but no significant damage. One corner has a small scuff which should be visible from our image. The corner angled joints on two corners do not quite meet. There is however no movement.
A reproduction Regency style drum table, with leather writing surface, series of frieze and dummy drawers and raised on downswept legs terminating in brass castors. Diameter 30.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The tooled leather surface has one small area of loss next to the crossbanded edge approximately 2 ins square. Other than this the table is in generally very good condition. It is structurally sound. The column and legs are in good order as well as the brass castors.
A Victorian rosewood serpentine turnover top card table, with applied mouldings to the frieze, with lobed column and four downswept legs terminating in scroll feet. Width 35.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Good original condition. No damage to the top or edge moulding. The green baize interior is a little tired. The crossbanding is all present and correct. The front frieze is in good condition as are both sides. The top is not warped. The piece is structurally sound. The column and legs are all in good order with only minor surface scuffs and abrasions.
A 19th century mahogany centre table, with tooled leather surface, panelled frieze and raised on angled moulded legs of square tapering section terminating in castors. Width 42 ins. The corner spandrels are all intact with only minor scuffs and marks. The legs are in basically good condition again with some minor scuffs to the proud edges. The castors are original. The table could be used in its current condition without the need for any work.
