A George III primitive mahogany wine table. Diameter 10 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the table is of good colour. It does have ring marks and traces of very minor insignificant stress fractures. The top is slightly warped. The stem is in good order and of good colour with minor stress fractures. The cruciform base is in very good condition. The table could be used in its current condition without the need for any repair or restoration.
A 19th century Chinese hardwood occasional table, with rouge marble insert, moulded and pierced edge to turned column with three downswept legs terminating in claw and ball feet. Diameter 20 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The marble is in good order with no cracks. The surround is in good condition as is the frieze. The table is structurally solid. The three hardwood supports that connect the table top to the centre turned column have all been reglued at some point. They are structurally sound but glue is clearly visible. The turned centre column is in good condition as are the three legs. There is a screw repair between two of the legs at the foot of the base which has been badly filled.
An early Victorian mahogany dining table, with telescopic action, complete with leaves and raised on turned tapered legs terminating in castors. Width 60 ins, length extended 149 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This table has come to us from a local hotel. It has been well used and is a little tired. The leaves are original and flat. The top however would in an ideal world need repolishing. It seems to have a varnish type finish which is beginning to desiccate in places. The timber is however of good quality and all of the leaves are basically the same colour. There is no significant damage to the table top. There is a small loss to one leaf where the female dowel attaches this is approximately 1 cm square and is visible. On the middle leave there is a small 3 ins hairline crack running from one side into the leaf, again this is not particularly significant. The third leaf has an old repair in the same place where the female end dowel sits. This is a slightly different colour. The table in the main has its original clip holders but we do not have clips. The table has been later fitted with butterfly action hinges to hold the leaves together. The undercarriage is generally solid and strong. The frieze around the corners to one side of the table is beginning to show stress fractures around the mortise and tenon joints but this is only really visible on one end. All legs are structurally solid and original. All castors are original and present although one or two are loose. The table has the makings of a good piece of furniture but requires some restoration.
A George III mahogany side table, with fixed top, moulded edge, recessed frieze and raised on chamfered legs of rectangular section, circa 1750 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Width 31.5 ins, depth 14.75 ins, height 28 ins. The piece is in generally good order. The top is flat with numerous old ring marks and surface scratches. The colour is however good. The frieze is in generally good order. There is a small triangular patch to the left hand side by the top of the leg. The rear left hand leg has had an old repair. This is barely visible except from the rear where a dowel mark is visible. The other three legs are in good order.
A late Victorian walnut wardrobe with dressing table and bedside cabinet to match, the wardrobe with foliate carved pediment, moulded cornice and pair of panelled cupboards, open aperture and series of drawers flanked on either side by a mirrored door and enclosing hanging space, the whole raised on a plinth base. Height 93 ins excluding later castors, width 78 ins, dressing table width 48 ins (see illustration).
An Art Deco spelter figural table lamp, in the form of a dancing nude, raised on a cylindrical base. Height 19 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This lamp is in untouched, original condition. The main problem with it is that the light fitting is detached from the hand. This would require repair. The fingers to the outstretched left hand are broken at the knuckle. The right hand facing out stretched arm has an old repair just above the elbow, this is old but visible. The original surface finish to the figure is showing signs of deterioration in places which should be visible from our image. The marble base is in generally good order with only minor surface scuffs and scratches.
A William & Mary style oyster veneered side table, with crossbanded moulded edge and raised on S scroll legs united by flat stretchers and with ball feet beneath. Width 31 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Height 29.5 ins, width 30.5 ins, depth 20.5 ins. The top of the side table is generally flat with no significant losses. There is some minor lifting of the veneer in places but as the veneer is thick we do not feel that this is a significant issue. There is an old stress crack running across the centre panel from left to right but again this is an old crack which does not appear to be worsening. The moulded edge is in generally good order as is the frieze. All legs are in generally good condition with only minor surface scuffs and scratches. The low stretcher is in generally good order but has probably had some veneer repairs over the years. The bun feet are quite badly scuffed and do have some cracks but they are solid and presentable.
A Victorian farmhouse kitchen dining table, with heavy top, painted base and raised on six legs united by stretchers. Length 81 ins, width 38.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. It has clearly had a lot of use however. The top is extremely thick. It has numerous scuffs, scratches, gouges and marks. The joins in the timber are open and there is a patched repair to the centre right hand side of the top. The frieze drawers operate as they should, but are very dirty inside. The table base is scuffed, knocked and marked and very worn at the end stretchers. This is however part of the appeal. The table has been in a damp environment and the top is in the process of drying out.
A late 19th/early 20th century Sheraton Revival bijouterie table, brass bound and marquetry, with tapered legs of square section united by a raised shaped shelf. Width 31.5 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This table is in very good condition. The top is flat and not warped. The glass is in good order as is the brass surround and marquetry. All four glass side panels are in good condition. The legs are in good order with no breaks and the piece is very sturdy. The lower shelf is also in good condition with no issues. The piece could be used or resold in its current condition without the need for any repair or restoration.
