A Fabulous 19th Century Slip Glazed Harvest Jug. The bulbous ochre glazed body decorated with slip resist sprigs of leaves around the rim. The sgraffito sides depicting two men in a hot air balloon above incised with name: Ann Alford Toniton 1837, with a large potted tulip to one side, a small table laid with jug & goblet to the other, and ears of barley surrounding inscriptions; `Fill me full of Liquor Sweet, of that is good when friends do meet`, and `Long may you live, Happy may you be, Bless with content, & from misfortune be` below the coiled handle terminal, 12 ins (30 cms) in height.
