Spare leaf is concealed underneath. Structurally appears in good condition with no obvious loose joints, damages or repairs. Some staining towards the bottom of the legs, probably from floor cleaning around the table. The spare leaf folds in half on hinges and is concealed below the surface of the table. There are no other spare leaves. An early 19th century mahogany drum top table, the leatherette inset top on a lotus leaf carved column, concave sided platform base and scroll toes, 125 cm diameter See inside front cover colour illustration Condition report Report by GH The leather top is probably an old replacement. There are various areas of loss to the leather and some scuffs and rips. The veneer surrounding the leather top is generally reasonable with some chips, cracks and scratches commensurate with age, and is lifting very slightly in a few small places. There are also occasional losses to the veneer particularly around the outside edge. The joint down the centre of the table from one from one side to the other is parting slightly. The moulding below the tabletop is parting in some places and gaps have appeared where the wood is joined in segments around the outside. All of the knob handles are present and appear to match and look original, some have some chipping particularly where they screw into the face of the drawer fronts. All of the drawers pivot or slide as they should. A few of the drawers have splits to the wood at the bottom of the drawers. Some of the bottoms of the drawers also appear slightly fresher than others suggesting a chance that some may have been restored at some point. The moulding below the drawers is generally good and has fared slightly better than the moulding above. The base has various chips and scratches and some small splits to the veneer commensurate with age, some of the corners of the platform base have also been knocked off or dented in the more vulnerable areas as have some of the more decorative carved pieces that support the casters. Casters are stamped C & G Patent and all appear to be in good condition and all match and roll freely. Overall presents well in good saleroom fresh condition with no major damages or obvious restorations.
