A fine quality 19th Century French Louis Philippe period Display Table, in the style of a Bonheur-du-Jour, inlaid and crossbanded with walnut, kingwood and rosewood, the super structure central pediment cabinet with glazed door, the moulded top with brass banding over ormolu mounts, flanked by lower cabinets either side, each with inlaid doors applied with oval Sevres plaques, with ribbon tied ormolu mounts, over a shallow serpentine table top with three blind parquetry drawers, on parquetry panelled and tapering blocked legs, 120cms x 130cms (47" x 51"). Attributed to Adriaen Van de Venne, 1589 - 1662, Dutch"Woman by a table in kitchen, wearing blue and red gown and small white ruff," O.O.Panel 74cms x 60cms (29" x 23 1/2"). There is an inscription on top rt. hd. corner, which translates roughly as 'This pan is not for scouring.' There is an inscribed label on reverse, and other indistinct writing, also a wax seal stamped 'J.B.', in a contemporary ebonised frame with forged iron hook. (1)Provenance: Purchased by Coughlan Briscoe, Dealer, London for Judge James Murnaghan, c. 1930.
An early 19th Century English giltwood Console Table, with serpentine moulded marble top over an egg and dart frieze, the centre with a seated cherub supported by scroll foliage design, the C scroll supports decorated with flowers and modelled with cherubs, the similarly designed stretcher with a decorative central bouquet of flowers, approx. 168cms (66") wide, 94cms (37") high.
