A Superb and most substantial wind-out Oak Dining Table by Cookes of Warwick, standing on eight turned and carved legs with concealed large brass castors, 69'' wide x 8' long, the striated Oak top being extendable with the one leaf present to 115'' approx., sadly now lacking the other leaves which would result in a table 21' in length, extending with a wind-out mechanism at either end, 24 1/4'' high beneath frame. Messrs. Cookes of Warwick, the cabinet makers of this table also produced furniture for the Royal Family and were applauded for the spectacular Sideboard which they made and displayed at the Great Exhibition of 1851 at the Crystal Palace, which is now situated in Warwick Castle and known as the ''Kenilworth Buffet''. The family for whom we are selling have been custodians of various lots which were purchased in the great auction of the contents of Goodrich Court in 1946 and it is likely that this table once stood in that mansion which was demolished in 1947.
