A pair of French green serpentine marble and gilt metal mounted table lamps in Louis XVI style, early 20th century, the fitments rising from swagged urn form bodies applied with twin rams' masks, above waisted and foliate cast socles descending to circular bases inset with beading and foliate panels, raised on toupie feet, 58cm high to top of fitment, 77cm high including shadeCondition Report: The lamps bear the usual very minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use.The mount encircling one of the socles is loose, and has partially detached. This will require attention. Each lamp bears one or two shallow surface indentations to the marble, and one narrow line appears to have been filled. This lamp also has a narrow crack to one of the gilt mounts, probably from casting and overall stable. The other has a similar fissure to the band of guilloches encircling the top. The present mounts supporting the electrical fitments may be associated. A Late George IV/Victorian solid satin birch circular centre library table, the top with moulded edge above four scrolling outswept supports, on castors, the underside of the top and one leg stamped 'VR, O, COBURG COTTAGE, MARCH, 1873', 72cm high, the top 132cm diameter Provenance; Christie's London, lot 189, June 15, 2000. The stamp relates to The Royal Estate of Osborne, in East Cowes, Isle of Wight. Coburg Cottage was built by H. R. H. Prince Albert for Queen Victoria as a birthday present in 1852. Christie's footnote detailed the history that this table was "almost certainly supplied to King George IV, and by descent to George VI, by whom given to the vendor's father, a landscape gardener at Royal Lodge Windsor, to replace furniture lost when his house was destroyed by bombing in 1940".Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use.
