A Japanese Carved Wood and Ivory Mounted Large Figural Okimono, late Meiji period (1868-1912), of a young girl peeling a vegetable, her chignon held by a comb, seated in a kimono on a tatami mat resting on two baskets containing further vegetables, and bare foot, 46cm high, upon an associated openwork pierced table stand of rounded rectangular form, the rails carved with pairs of birds amongst waves and scrolls, on incurved feet linked by shaped stretchers, 43cm by 30.5cm by 16cm Figure with numerous serious drying cracks on the head (some run through the face). Some drying cracks in the collar of the kimono. Further drying cracks in the limbs, hands and vegetable being peeled. Parts of the peeler knife missing (pieces not retained). Fragment of ivory on her knee which may have been a larger piece? (piece not retained and signs of glue). Some further drying cracks in wood. Cracks in both feet. Also drying cracks to fruits (which are ivory) in the basket. Some chipping along the ends of the tatami mat. The stand has been reglued and probably some new screws holding it steady. Small filler and small repairs. On the main table there are two small circular plug repairs. 030613
An Edwardian Tortoiseshell Stationery Table Cabinet, of rectangular section, the tortoiseshell quarter round hinged lid with white metal inlay to the rim revealing a red silk lined fitted interior, the sides and back in crushed red Morocco, 31.5cm wide, 19.5cm high, comprising blotter pad, 32.3cm, stamp box, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, London 1912, 7.8cm pair of dwarf table candlesticks, 1913, 10.5cm high, and arched rectangular photograph frame, 16.8cm high The interior linings have got slightly chipped and quite heavily worn through natural use. The lid appears good and the hinges strong. The front flange generally chipped and nibbled along the front, and particularly on the angles. The rear leather covered flange also scuffed quite heavily. Blotter pad - very good condition except the edges are frayed of the burgundy silk. Stamp box - good. Photograph frame - chip to glass panel. Scuffing of burgundy leather on easel back. Some slight drying blemishes on the inner frame edge. Candlesticks - one candlestick has a large 3.5cm chunk out of the basal rim. The other has a very small chip out of the basal rim. The burgundy leather basal cover is coming loose. 310513

Some discolouration of the gilding. Impurities and faults in the marble and general small chips, especially to the sharp rims. 310513

Two Peter ``Rabbitman`` Heap Oak Rectangular Coffee Tables, on two octagonal legs joined by a stretcher, with carved rabbit signature, 91cm by 36.5cm, 45cm high 1. Hole dent in top, varnished top, general splash marks and dirty, natural crack in foot, expected wear. 2. An Oak Altar Table, Attributed to/Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott for St John`s Church Bilton, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, circa 1860`s, the plank top above an understretcher carved with ten motifs, on six octagonal legs each with carved leaf capitals, joined by chamfered floor stretchers, 229cm by 91.5cm, 98cm Provenance: Formerly in St John`s Church, Bilton. The church was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and paid for by William Sheepshanks. The church was consecrated on 12th November 1857 by the Bishop of Ripon.
