There is a veneer fracture to the right section of the frieze. The legs are all structurally sound. The rear left leg has been pegged at the top but is structurally sound. The peg repair is holding together an old split. The pegs are only visible from the rear. Depth 46 cm, height 73.5 cm.

Lot 1866

CONDITION REPORT: The Davenport is structurally sound. The veneers are a little dry in places. There are no losses to the top. The interior compartment is ink stained and one inkwell is missing. The lock escutcheon is missing. The slope front is in generally good order. The interior is all present but a little stained. All drawers run freely. All knob handles are present. All locks are in place but we have no key. There are some minor traces of old woodworm to the bottom scroll of the left support. The base is in generally good condition as are the feet. The back is original and in generally good order.

Lot 1867

A George III mahogany turnover top side table, with moulded edge, recessed frieze and raised on chamfered legs with fretwork corner brackets. Width 75.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The polish to the top surface is tired and has a fair amount of water damage. The top is however flat. The hinges are original and are not loose. The edge moulding to both the top and bottom sections of the top is all intact with only a scuff to the right hand corner. There are 4 small circular filled repairs to the top itself. The top is not significantly warped but there is a slight smile when viewed from the sides. The legs are all structurally sound but there are several old stress fractures to the timber. The polish generally is tired. The table will originally have had swing out back legs but this is no longer the case. The edge moulding which runs around the front, sides and back is continuous not allowing for the hinge to operate. The turnover top is therefore now supported by spinning round and turning over onto the rectangular base. There are traces of old long gone wood worm to the softwood on what was the rear table supports which are now fixed.

Lot 1926

Measuring 43 cm high 33 cm wide and 22.5 cm deep. The other table measures 41.5 cm high, 33 cm wide and 22 cm deep. The taller table - the top is ever so slightly sun bleached and faded and with an old ring mark. There are what appear to be ink stains to the border, the colour has faded. The corner joints are open due to shrinkage. One section of the fretwork apron on the sides has a small part that has been broken and re-attached. The stretchers are in good order. This table shows signs of wear and tear commensurate with its age. Given the faults mentioned it is structurally sound. The smaller table has small carved decorative husks along the borders, the top is a uniform faded colour. The fruiting vine fretwork apron is in good order on all sides. There are signs of shrinkage to the joints on the lower stretchers. One stretcher has a small repair approximately 3 cm in length. Other than those faults this table is structurally sound and the condition reflects wear and tear commensurate with age.

Lot 1955

A George III mahogany side table, fitted with a single drawer and raised on turned tapered legs. Width 76 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Width 76 cm, depth 38.5 cm, height 71 cm. In our opinion the table is probably circa 1800. The top is flat and in generally good condition. There are two edge stress fractures which are clearly old but in our opinion not problematic but visible. There are numerous other small scuffs and marks. The drawer operates smoothly. The handle if not original goes through the original handle hole. The polish to the drawer front is a little tired and there are no repairs to the legs and there is slight movement at the joints of both right hand legs. There is a small hole on the inside edge of all 4 legs below the bottom turning indicating that there may have been some form of stretcher at some point. We cannot be sure about this. There is some old woodworm to the softwood bearer on the right hand side between the front and rear leg. There does not appear to be any woodworm in any of the hardwood. To the right hand side of the drawer at the top there has been a break through the rectangular block at the top of the leg this is an old repair and should be visible from our images.

Lot 1971

A Georgian mahogany side cabinet, with hinged top, side and front drawer and drop flap to either side and raised on rectangular legs with chamfered inside edges. Width 57.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound with no significant problems. The only loss is the front right hand fretwork spandrel. The period roller castors are all in good order. There are no repairs to the legs. The side flaps are not significantly warped. The handles and lock escutcheon appear to be original. The top does not have an original finish but rather a later French polished finish which is beginning to perish in places. The inside of the top would suggest some form of bracket to support the hinged top. We cannot actually see quite how this would have worked. There are minor stress fractures to the timber in places but no significant constriction issues. The side drawer has a watermark and the lock is missing.

Lot 1996

A 19th century mahogany kneehole dressing table, fitted with five drawers with brass knob handles and cockbeading and raised on turned tapered legs. Width 99 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The handles certainly have age, if they are not original then they correspond with the original handle holes. If you look at the left hand drawer the backplate of the handle slightly covers the bottom of the lock escutcheon indicating that they may well be later. The bottom left hand handle is different to the remaining five. The top of the piece is in good condition. It looks to have been fairly recently polished. There are minor surface blemishes but no significant issues. There are old stress fractures running horizontally to the right hand side but no open breaks. All drawer fronts run reasonably smoothly. All cockbeading seems to be present. The bottom left hand drawer has a stress fracture from left to right. The legs are in generally good condition with no visible repairs. The piece is structurally solid. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

One of the side panels has a vertical stress fracture running through the top panel. The same panel has a break at the bottom of the pierced arch. Another panel has one mother of pearl roundel missing. Other than the faults mentioned there are no significant issues.
