A Chinese famille rose 'Wu Shuang Pu' tea bowl and saucer, Tongzhi period (1862-1874), the tapered tea bowl rising from a high footring and standing on a deep welled saucer, typically enamelled with depictions from 'Wu Shuang Pu' (table of Peerless heroes), the five portrayed here include Li Bai (Qinglian Jushi) a Chinese poet and member of the group 'The eight immortals of the wine cup', Hua Mu Lan, a brave female warrior who disguised herself as a man to take part in battle, Liu Chen, Prince of Beidi and second ruler of Shu Han, Dong Xian a Han Dynasty politician and Su Wu a diplomat and statesman during the Han Dynasty, all between alternating panels of writings and poems, both with iron-red Tongzhi seal marks, tea bowl 6cm high, 11cm diameter, saucer 15cm diameter (illustrated)
