A mid-19th Century Irish Killarney marquetry and yew fold-over games table with pyrographic detailing, the hinged revolving top centred with a titled oval reserve of `Muckross Abbey` flanked by a pair of fern fronds within chequer banded, crossbanded and foliate marquetry borders, the playing surface marquetry veneered with chess, backgammon and cribbage boards with continuous clover leaf borders and two oval reserves of Glena Cottage and a ruin, the apron decorated with a band of oak leaves and acorns above a faceted octagonal baluster stem and a quatrefoil base with clover leaf tendrils, raised on carved paw feet, height approx 79.5cm, width approx 79.5cm.

IPB, Birmingham 1850 the whole supported on the back of an ox`s forefront, the lids with engraved inscription; "To Clement Ronds Of Mount Falinge........" generally describing the origin of the Ox horns from an Ox that was roasted whole and given to the poor of Rochdale in celebration of his elevation to the office of High Sheriff on November 15th 1850 and with engraved list of subscribers to the other snuff mull lid, the points joined by a silver shield with an engraved crest and motto Semper Paratus (Always Ready). 35cm

By descent to his grandson the Duke of Brunswick (1845-1923). Sold as a group privately to the Vienna dealers Gluckselig in 1924. . Note; . Generally known as part of a set of 72 candlesticks delivered circa 1735 to Herrenhausen, the Hanover palace of King George II of England and Elector of Hanover (r.1727-1760).. Much of the Hanover Royal plate remained at Herrenhausen until shortly after the Seven Weeks war in 1866. During the war the Palace was looted by Prussian troops but the Royal Plate survived in a hidden vault. George Frederick, King of Hanover was deposed and the family was deprived of the title of Kings and were, thereafter referred to as the Dukes of Brunswick. They settled in Austria and the silver was moved to Penzing near Vienna and the Duke`s villa at Gmunden. Following the death of George Frederick`s son, Ernest Augustus in 1923 a considerable part of the Hanover silver, both German and English, was purchased by the Viennese dealer Gluckselig and it appears to have been, at least in part, resold to London dealers Crichton brothers.. Balthazar Friedrich Behrens (1701-1760) His most famous productions were the five chandeliers after designs by the English architect, William Kent that he supplied to the court at Herrenhausen, in 1736 and 1737. One was sold by Christie`s Monaco, 4th December 1993 lot 95 and was part of the Hubert de Givenchy collection.

A Fine Early 19th Century French Centre Table; the circular top mounted with a fine gilt brass edge case with flowers and inset with a Verre Eglomise roundel depicting a Romanesque profile portrait bordered by flowers and a band of anthemion`s. The plain tapered centre column having a gilt brass collar on a triform plinth base with a triform plinth base with curved sides and rounded corners accented with fine gilt case flower-heads. Raised on flat discoid feet 30½ ins (77 cms) in height, 29 ins (74 cms) in diameter.
An Empire Flame Mahogany & Parcel Gilt Sewing Table. The hinged circular top rising to reveal a partitioned tray lifting out to access the fabric bag below. The bag composed of burgundy silk gathered at the base in a pleated fringe above a reeded knop and carved collar enriched with gilding. The circular base platform having four protuberant roundel`s with turned caps above carved claw feet, 30¾ ins (78 cms) in height, 16½ ins (42 cms) in diameter.

The lid surmounted by the figure of a dark patinated monkey sat reading a book before a table laden with gilded map, books, callipers & ink-pot, 7½ ins (19 cms) in height, the base 7½ ins x 4¾ ins (19 cms x 12 cms).
