A late 18th century George III period mahogany, satinwood crossbanded and boxwood strung side table of pleasing proportions, three frieze draws with original gillows style cast brass handles, raised on square, tapering, boxwood strung legs (102cm wide x 45cm deep x 79.5cm high)Condition Report: It looks as though there are several black marks to the top and where the varnish has been applied (some time ago) the plaster in the varnish is showing as white flecks within the grain. The table has been consigned privately. The back of the table is slightly faded, the legs all look in good condition as do the drawers with original handles and oak sides and base. The left-hand drawer has suffered a split along the oak draw lining (approx. 10" from the front) and there is a small piece of wood affixed to the underside to prevent the split worsening. The middle draw has suffered similarly, there are two splits along the oak drawer base both full width, also with extra wood affixed. The right hand drawer also has a full width split to the draw lining approx. 10" in from the front. The Auctioneer thinks the table may have has some re-polishing at some stage but the legs are strong, the top surface flat and it stands well. On the left-hand side in the middle there is approximately a 3-4" split which has historically repaired. The cross-banding on the top has dulled rather but on the sides is still bright.
