Note: Sir George Harrison (1811-1885) was an Edinburgh merchant and Lord Provost from 1882-1885. He was responsible for the acquisition of Blackford Hill by the Corporation of Edinburgh. In 1885 he was elected MP for Edinburgh South but died a month later. By family repute, this dining table was part of the furniture with which Sir George furnished the city chambers with during his time in office and was used in one of the principal rooms.
