dating: 17th Century provenance: France, Hemispherical skull worked in one piece, with a row of iron rivets at the base. Flat rounded brim with hemmed border worked with notch decoration, raised backpiece on one side and a further row of rivets for the lining. On the curled side two open-works, probably for a plume-holder. Extremely rare. In patina. Provenance: former Malacrida Collection.Bibliography: 'White Arms' A.G. Cimarelli,1969, Tav. A mid-19th century mahogany flip top tea table, walnut inlaid 90cm x 44cm x 73cm high. The finish is faded and a bit distressed. There is some damage, lifting to the cross banding on top and inside when open lid. The interior is a protected good darker colour .The lid fits well, doesn’t have a nasty ‘smile’
