A large French monastery table reputedly from Basilica de St Quentin, with four plank top on pierced and angled trestle ends, 300 cm long x 85 cm wide x 74 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table has a relatively recent modern replacement top. The top itself is in generally good order with only very minor surface scratches and marks. The end supports look to be circa 1880. The metalwork would confirm this. The bearers beneath the table do not correspond to the table side rails, clearly the base and top have been adapted. Whilst the ends are in generally good order with only minor scuffs and marks the original bearers which now support the late top do have traces of woodworm along the top edge. This would require some treatment although it does appear to be long gone. The table is structurally very sound with no loose joints.
