There is a little bit of splitting in the veneers on the frieze which just under the thumbnail moulded top. Turning the top up it looks like it has it's original gilt metal pull-back spring although the two bolts are noted to be missing. The block itself looks original with the two brass spring receivers looking original and in place etc. The base itself looks pretty good, the legs have no major reparations or problems and it can be seen where they have darkened down significantly with the carp areas as expected and commensurate with age. No evidence of woodworm and probably the original castors to the undersides of the French-style scrolling feet.
