NB The firm of Miles & Edwards traded on Oxford Street from 1822-1844 and had many prestigious patrons, including the British Ambassador to Paris, The Empress of Russia, the Turkish Ambassador and Lord Palmerston, together with important country houses such as Burton Constable.
An Edwardian rosewood inlaid envelope card table in the neo classical revival taste, the triangular flaps with boxwood stringing and central urn, opening to reveal a baize and leather-lined playing surface and four counter wells, fitted a single inlaid frieze drawer, raised on ivory strung shaped legs united by a shaped platform terminating in brown porcelain castors, 23 x 22 1/2 x 29in. (closed).
