Ross pieces display the use of trellis and dot marquetry in the style of the late 18th century Parisian cabinet makers. A MAHOGANY SOFA TABLE IN GOTHIC REVIVAL TASTECIRCA 1825 AND LATER71.5cm high, 91cm wide with leaves down, 142cm wide with leaves up, 71cm deep Provenance:Property of The Hon. Catherine Mary Wass, OBE (1942-2021) most likely inherited from the 7th Viscount Gort in 1975 from Hamsterley Hall, Co. Durham This sofa table was photographed in 'The Regency Room' at Hamsterley Hall by Country Life in 1939; p. 422, fig. 10. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useAs per the catalogue description - overall this table appears to have had some level of adaption and alteration, there are some quirks and oddities such as the mouldings to the edges of the frieze which have been lengthened previously, the drawers open with one to each side (which does happen in cabinet making of this period) however, the drawers appear to have been created from the drawer fronts and later lined - this may indicate the table started with four (false) drawer fronts. Old splits and cracks, some chips and losses, There is what appears to be a later piece of timber to the underside above the high stretcher, this is attached via screws. The handles looks original, they have good patinaThe top is formed of bookmatched panels, there are knocks, scratches, abrasions, indentations. The colour is faded, there is colour variation over the two sides, there are some old splits and cracks. The leather inset has rips and losses, a large section is missing and torn offThe clock movement has a cylinder escapement which appears to be ticking at time of report, there is no winding key present. Dreweatts have not fully tested the movement and cannot make any guarantees or comments as to accuracy or if the movement is working we suggest getting the clock appraised by a professional clock restorer prior to use. Diamond two-stone cross-over ring in platinum setting on 18ct yellow gold shank, ring size J.Gross weight approximately 1.75 grams. The diamonds are lively bright stones, no obvious inclusions to the naked eye but one stone has a small chip/abrasion to the table facet. Setting in good condition. Shank is a little worn and thin at the edges.

Fine Regency mahogany and ebony line inlaid serving table in the manner of George Oakley, with two frieze drawers between finely cast bronze lion mask mounts on four pairs of reeded legs, each with ebony collars and carved lion paw feet, on plinth bases, 251cm long x 70cm deep x 87cm high. NB: A comparable serving or buffet table by George Oakley, with the same support configuration and similar lion mask ornament is in the Royal Collection at Holyroodhouse, Inventory number 28079. It is noted in their literature that in 1800, George Oakley’s firm attracted the patronage of the Prince of Wales, and Oakley is known to have supplied items to Carlton House.Good original condition, some cracks to top, poor repair to crossbanding on top, some minor veneer losses, legs and bases need re-polishing and bases have some losses to veneer- see extra images
