A George II/III pollard/burr wood side table, the solid pollard/burr wood rectangular top with deep re-entrant front corners, above a frieze drawer with a solid pollard/burr front, over a solid apron, raised on faceted cabriole legs terminating in pointed shoed pad feet, some damage and old restorations, 76cm wide x 47cm deep x 67cm highA deceased estate.Restored back left leg (possibly later), where formerly broken at the top. Consequently later upper section. 5cm section right side of drawer later and very visible, but a good (barely visible) later 10cm wide x approximately 7cm traingular section bottom left well spliced-in. Shoes of feet badly frassed and mostly missing, chipped edges. Some old woodworm, including some holes on the feet. Overall condition not bad, apart from drawer. Chips, dents and scratches consistent with age and use.
A 19th century Persian, khatamkari occasional table, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, bone, a yellow metal (possibly gold) and rosewood, the hexagaonal top with a large central hexagonal panel decorated with a ground of overlapping hexagons enclosing 6-pointed stars, within two double banded borders divided by a mosaic-type central border, the base with a landscape shaped mashrabiyyah panel over a twin lozenge panel over a chain pattern panel with a pair of mashrabiyya panels below, the legs with an inlaid bone edge, terminating in block feet, minor damage and restoration, 45.5 wide x 73.5cm highMinor damage, including two 0.5cm losses of inlay on corners of large border on the top. Minor isolated restorations on inlays. Top with hairline cracks.
