A Georgian mahogany console table, the rectangular top with moulded edge and reentrant corners supported by a recessed frieze and raised on shell carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet, width 119 cm, depth 54 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in extremely good condition. In our opinion the table top which is in period mahogany will be a later replacement. The table is likely to originally have had a marble top. The top itself is in good order and of good colour. There are no spits and no damage to the top. The recessed frieze is in generally good condition. There is a small veneer repair to the front left-hand corner. The apron beneath has had some minor repairs however there are no losses and the colour is good and uniform all round. There are no loose joints. The table is structurally sound. The front legs appear to be in good order. Both rear legs have old long stress fractures. These are not open they are only visible on close inspection more so when viewed from the rear.
