Parcel ebonised and mahogany bracket or table clock,18th Century, the break arch brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring, Arabic five minutes and lozenge half hour markers signed to the lower edge 'Asselin, London', the finely matted centre with false pendulum and date apertures, foliate scroll spandrels and strike/silent ring to the arch. The triple train fusee movement with verge escapement, chiming on six bells and striking on a further bell with acanthus scroll engraved back plate and pull repeat. The parcel ebonised mahogany case with inverted bell top, brass handle, break arch door with later brass frets, glazed side windows, upon brass ball feet, 44.5cm high with handle lowered x 26cm wide x 25.5cm deepOld repairs and alterations including the door escutcheon and brass frets. The case was probably originally ebonised. There is a plugged hole in the case side which may have been another pull repeat for the chime or hours. Wear and marks commensurate with the age and use.
