A Chinese Canton carved ivory miniature table screen or plaque probably early 19th century, the oblong panel carved in relief with a lady and her attendant in a fenced garden, the reverse carved with a large leaf and precious objects, 6¼ x 3in. (16 x 7.5cm.), with a later carved hardwood stand.
A Victorian Richardson cased white over ruby flashed glass vase and cover c.1890, the tapered ovoid body, decorated with petal shaped panels decorated alternately with painted floral sprays on a white ground and strawberry diamond cut cased white panels, against a ruby flashed ground enriched with foliate gilding, seated on a collar and flared white cased over ruby petal cut pedestal base enriched with gilded scrollwork, the conforming domed cover with hexagonal finial, 15¼in. **A COMPOSITE SOUTH GERMAN INFANTRY HALF-ARMOUR, MID-16TH CENTURY comprising burgonet with one-piece skull rising to a tall roped comb, flanged outwards at its base to receive a single neck-lame, and fitted with a pair of cheek-pieces each pierced with a circular arrangement of holes, and an obtusely pointed peak pierced for a nasal-bar, `almain` collar of three lames front and rear with integral spaudlers of six lames each (front edges trimmed), breastplate formed of a main plate with medial ridge projecting forward over the belly and boldly roped turn at the neck, fitted at the arm-openings with a pair of moveable gussets en suite with the neck, and at its lower edge with a waist-lame, flanged outwards to receive a skirt of three lames, a pair of pendent tassets of seven and eight lames respectively (the seventh of the left and all of the right restored), one-piece backplate stamped with a mark and later pierced at its edges for a lining, on a wooden table mounting stand Provenance Christie`s East, New York, 21st November 1986, lot 64.
