Thelma Hulbert [1913-1995] Still life of dried senna pods on a dressing table, 1951- signed, oil on canvas, 49.5 x 39cm. *Provenance: With Ernest, Brown & Phillips Ltd, The Leicester Galleries, London WC2 Exhibited Retrospective Paintings & Drawings 1937 1962 No 24 Whitechape lGallery1962 *Biography: Thelma Hulbert was among a group of artists that included Victor Pasmore, William Coldstream, Claude Rogers and Graham Bell and which became the Euston Road School After the War she travelled to America, Africa and on the continent while continuing to paint in her Holland Park studio. In the 60`s and early 70`s she taught at the Central School of Art & Design and took part in numerous exhibitions including solo shows at the Leicester, Redfern and Marjorie Pass Galleries. She died at her home in Dowell Street in Honiton in 1995 which is now The Thelma Hulbert Gallery. Throughout her life the subjects of her paintings were still life, domestic interiors, and landscapes, many of which included the Cornish coast.
