Attributed to Nicholas Condy (1793-1857) A Plymouth tavern interior with men smoking at a table, oil on canvas, Indistinctly inscribed on label on stretcher: Given to Captain Ryan by N. Condy, 48 x 64cm (19 x 251/4in) Captain Ryan was captain of the ship ‘City of Edinburgh’, which sailed from Condy’s native Plymouth on the 15th May 1837 bound for Sydney.
Douglas Swan (American 1930-2000). Table Top Figure. Oil on board. Signed and dated ‘57 verso and inscribed with title. 85 x 114 cm (33 1/2 x 45 in). Douglas Swan was born in Connecticut of Scottish parents. He studied at Dundee College of Art under James McIntosh Patrick and later showed at the RSA and in London, Germany & Switzerland .
