NOTE:The Thames Tunnel, also called Wapping-Rotherhithe Tunnel was designed by the French emigré Marc Isambard Brunel and completed in 1843 after 18 years of construction. It was the first subaqueous tunnel in the world and was for many years the largest soft-ground tunnel.

NOTE:Philip Cluver (Cluwer or Cluvier) (1580-1623), German geographer and historian, was given a special appointment at Leiden as geographer and put in charge of the university's library. His life's project was a general study of the geography of Antiquity, based not only on classical literary sources, but - and this was his contribution - supplemented by wide travels and local inspections. He became virtually the founder of historical geography. The first edition of this work appeared in 1624 (without maps) and many editions followed. Another edition with only 38 maps (in duodecimo) was also published in 1661 (Amst., Elzevier). - Sabin 13805; Shirley 426.

A large rustic dining suite comprising heavily distressed oak table with 2 extension leaves, on 'X' frame refectory base, length 220cm, 6 chairs with rail backs and rush seats, and sideboard with 3 sliding doors. "Prospective purchasers please be aware that this suite is extremely heavy and will require dismantling for transportation. any purchasers must send adequate man power and transport to deal with this. This suite must be removed from Maxwells premises not later than Friday 18h November 2022."
