A Gone With the Wind chair from Scarlett's Atlanta mansionMGM, 1939. Gothic revival-style painted and carved wood side chair, first half 20th century. The chair offered here is from a set that is seen throughout the film during the period when Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara live in a grand mansion in Atlanta. They can be seen in many scenes including the pivotal scene in which a drunken Rhett orders Scarlett into the dining room (where several of the chairs can be seen at the dining table) and forcibly pushes her onto the chair, where he says, 'Observe my hands, my dear; I could tear you to pieces with them,' as a means to erase Ashley from her mind; in the hallway when Rhett returns from London with Bonnie; in the scene with Melanie and Mammy after Bonnie's death; and one can be glimpsed right before Rhett utters, 'Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn,' among others. The chair has been painted and the cushions recovered since the making of the film. Accompanied by a DVD of the film. Height: 57 in.; width: 20 in.; depth: 22 in.This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: W
