Legatura coeva in bazzana marrone alle armi, sui piatti ovale con stemma di Jean Baptiste Colbert in oro, dorsi a 6 nervi con decorazione dorata, tagli rossi (sciupata, qualche piccola mancanza).Splendido esemplare alle armi di Colbert di questa ricercata e ambiziosa opera, completa del settimo volume del Supplément. L`Atlas Historique ebbe tale successo che quattro furono le edizioni che si susseguirono a partire dal 1705 fino al 1739.Le grandi carte geografiche derivano dalle opere di Guillaume de I`lsle, mentre i testi si basano sui viaggi e le scoperte di Dapper, Chardin, de Bruyn, Le Hay. Importanti le sezioni dedicate alle Americhe, Cina, Giappone, Egitto e Russia, riccamente illustrate dalle tavole che raffigurano anche vedute di città, costumi tradizionali, storia naturale, palazzi, riti e feste.
