Lot 537

Scottish oak and mahogany longcase clock, the hood with swan neck pediment, trunk with long door, plinth base, 12" square painted dial with date aperture, thirty hour movement striking on a bell, 206cm.Condition report:Pendulum and weight are present but the pendulum is missing the hook so unable to test if movement is in full working order.

Lot 149

A small French mantel clock, with gilt bronze cherub and dove surrounding the circular white ial painted with floral swags, Arabic numerals, rectangular marble base, raised on four gilt feet, with keys, 16cm.Condition report:The metal would appear to be gilt bronze rather than brass or spelter, given the crispness of the casting and weight. The gilt mounts appear to have been mounted on the wrong side of the case in that the bird is at the back of the drum, the boy is turned away, and on the back of the case below the movement door is another applied mount which would look in place on the front, however there isn't a corresponding one at present below the dial. So the movement and dial could do with being swapped round, making the most of the figural elements. The movement is ticking over and appears to be running ok. The dial remains delicately painted and in good overall condition. Spot wear to the gilt patina. The plinth remains good without any significant chips. Please see additional uploaded images, including the base.

Lot 531

Oak and mahogany longcase clock, the hood with bird finial and swan neck pediment, trunk with short door, bracket feet, twelve inch painted dial with date aperture, signed Carter, Brackley, thirty hour movement striking on a bell, 216cm.Condition report:The movement appears to be ticking over and working although we cannot guarantee working order over a sustained period of time. The case door has no key and is presently locked. The dial has a small flake of enamel lower left corner, not visible went he good is in place. The main door is split vertically just to the right of the centre line. The lower front base panel is also split and shows signs of worm activity, and there are missing moulded elements forming the bracket feet.

Lot 554

Victorian burr walnut credenza, ebony inlay, gilt metl mounts and prcelain panels, lacking back legs, width 185cm, depth 46cm, height 107cm.Condition report:This was once a really handsome piece of furniture which has been left to spoil, but the quality remains. The top has some historic dark and deep scratches to the central section, and heavy water damage and staining throughout the top surface. Short lengths of inlaid outlines are lifting in places but in general the inlay is very good and appears stable. There are two lengths of gilt beading missing from the top righthand curved edge, approximately 6cm and 15cm in length, and another length of gilt beading missing from the lefthand glazed door frame, again approx 15cm. All other gilt mounts are present but some may need repinning as a little loose. The interiors are generally ok, some wear. No feet at all so they need replacing as it doesn't sit level as it is. No evident splits to any of the panels or door.
