Two silver oblong entree dishes, covers and handles by Robert Garrard I, London 1809, the handles modelled as coiled snakes, with gadrooned borders and engraved with an armorial and a motto ‘Virtuti Maenia Cedant’, 30cm (11.75in) long, 3670g (118 oz) The arms are for The Rev’d Dr. Henry Wilder of Sulham near Reading. He was a Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford and died aged 89 in 1827. He was not only lord of the manor of Sulham but also vicar for a while and officiated at the marriage of his son, who was a Berkshire JP. This coat of arms is engraved on a wall plaque just inside the north door of the very picturesquely situated church.
A late 19th/early 20th Century William and Mary style walnut corner cabinet, the arched cavetto moulded pediment above a glazed door with painted and gilt glass panels, the base fitted with a drawer and a double cupboard, on turned knop legs united by platform stretchers, height approx 192cm.
