A George III mahogany bureau bookcase, the upper section having an ovolu cornice and plain frieze above twin astragal glazed doors (glass a/f), enclosing shelved interior with base drawers, the lower section with sloping fall opening to reveal well fitted interior of centre cupboard door with conch-shell marquetry inlay flanked by twin secret column drawers with further marquetry inlay, in turn flanked by arcaded pigeon holes with frieze drawers over short drawers, the base fitted two short and three long crossbanded drawers, each having brass swan neck handles, the whole raised on ogee bracket feet, width 109cm. Please note the upper section has been removed from the bureau and had ogee bracket feet placed upon it, the Auctioneers feel it best to keep the bookcase and bureau together and sell as one lot although minor works would need to be undertaken to re-marry the two back together.
A Victorian figured walnut marble topped Credenza, the shaped white marble top with a thumb moulded edge above a marquetry inlaid frieze and centre arched mirrored door flanked by corner angle mirror doors, all within boxwood strung surrounds, the whole raised on bun feet, width 152cm (See lot 623 for illustration).
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS MARQUETRY ENCOIGNEUR, the later serpentine top above a bombe shaped door, crossbanded and decorated with a trellis design, the channelled borders with scrolling foliate marquetry on cast brass paw feet, the interior with a shelf and marque au fer for Holland and Son 1866 inventory for Queen Victoria, (parts of bottom hinge missing, also moulding and marquetry, one later foot), 37in high (94cm), 18in wide (46cm) and 15in deep (38cm).
