A Malay State Volunteer Rifles leather despatch box, first quarter of the 20th century, opening to a green velvet lined interior, the cover with gilt inlaid Malay States Volunteers emblem and the initials B.J, 25.5cm wide sold together with a small WW1 bayonet paper-knife marked 'Yypres' to the bladeCondition:Box missing front door and with section of skin missing to one edge, that has now been taped over.
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH LATER BLUE PAINTED DOUBLE HEIGHT DRESSER143cm wide; 51cm deep; 227cm highCondition report: There is some warp to the top right side door, as can be seen from images on www.bellmans.co.uk and as a consequence the door doesn’t shut correctly. Further shrinkage splits in areas, to the lower right door, cornice and bottom section sides. The iron locks are present, but no key. Some reinforcement sections of timber used - as can be seen in some of the extra images. Old worm holes evident. Paintwork is worn, chipped and scuffed. Backboards appear to be original to the piece. As stated, this is early 19th but with later paint.

Shelves are a supported on later horizontal sections, and probably associated but would have originally had adjustable shelves. Later white painted. Oak backboards and single frieze drawer at the bottom of the shelves. Inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age.Please see extra images

Wear around the lock and edges. Gilt-metal elements tarnished and worn, ball finial is scuffed Wear to enamel dial, particularly around the winding holes, scuffs and scratches to the glass face. Silk to the sides worn, dirty and a little loose. No key. The movement has not been inspected and the glass door at the front not opened. Width at base: 26 cm; Depth at base: 17.3 cm ; Height excluding pagoda surmount 36cm; Pagoda surmount without finial 8cm high (total height from the side to the top not from the centre); finial 5cm highWe cannot guarantee the working order of this lot or that it keeps good time. It is not currently working in the saleroom and has not been tested.
A REGENCY MAHOGANY BREAKFRONT FOUR DOOR CABINET170cm wide; 43cm deep; 95cm highCondition report: This is a floor standing cabinet. Various elements of moulding missing along the bottom edge and back left side foot. Mounted with a gilt-brass border to the top edge, and looks to be missing a further superstructure along the back edge, with small pins marking where it would’ve been secured. An old crack to the top - see extra images. Other inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age.
