1953 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe Eight Convertible CoupeRegistration no. 430 XVDChassis no. P8XH88350Odometer reading. 52153MOT : expired *Believed to be highly original*Unrestored condition*Imported to the UK in 2018 Purchased from Bonhams Amelia Island sale in 2018, prior to the current owner just one family had the pleasure of wheeling around this classic piece of American iron throughout the car's 58 year existence. Since being delivered new, this Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe Convertible was garage kept, and as a result, presents in fine condition. There is only one adjective that wholly summarizes the vehicle's finest attributes-original. The body appears clean with no major corrosion and the Continental Maroon Paint present well given its age; even the chrome still shines to this day. The story remains the same inside; The black seats have been the subject of a refresh but still show signs of age and a worn rear carpet show the most signs of usage, but the dash, instrument panel, and all the buttons have remained clean. The convertible top and power folding mechanical system both received attention in recent years, and we are told by the consigner that the car is an honest runner that drives with ease. The glovebox still holds the original books, dealer pamphlets, and build sheet.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 58/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1982 Datsun 280 ZX CoupeRegistration no. LCN 679XChassis no. HS130950030Odometer reading: 47,601MOT expiry date: February 2022 * Low mileage unrestored example of a significant Japanese sports coupe* Rare 5-speed manual two-seater model* Excellent running and driving with much history on file Completely redesigned from the previous 240 and 260Z models, the 280ZX was aimed squarely at the US market, with softer suspension, more sound insulation, more comfortable seats and greater levels of luxury equipment including power steering and high-end audio. The first Datsun to see the Nissan badge used, the 280ZX was usually specified with automatic transmission and it switched from carburettors to fuel injection to meet US emissions requirements. Marketed as a sports two-seater, as seen here, and a 2+2, the 280ZX proved to be a strong seller in the US market and while sales were good in Europe, very few survive in good condition. As restoration costs far outweigh resale values, good original cars like the one presented here are the desirable and intelligent choice. With its period style of silver over blue two-tone paint and glass sunroof, this Z car has patently been cherished all its life and wears its years very well, testament to its low mileage and careful ownership. Well known by the UK 'Z Club' the car was shown to great acclaim at the 1990 Z Rally celebrations. Fitted with a tuned 1,500cc engine, this buggy is understood to have been built in 2006 by VW enthusiast husband and wife Tim and Helen Rowley. The VW engine is fitted with twin Weber downdraught carburettors and the interior sports Cobra vinyl trimmed reclining bucket seats and American Pro Comp instruments. Weather equipment includes a custom-made vinyl trimmed removable hardtop. After some time in storage, the buggy has been recommissioned, with a new VW fuel tank being fitted. History includes old MOT certificates, original build information with photographs, and a parts catalogue.ePlease click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1968 Nerus SilhouetteRegistration no. N/AChassis no. N/AEngine no. WM258Odometer reading: N/NMOT expiry date: N/A * Rare and highly competitive racer* Lotus Twin Cam engine and Hewland gearbox* A great entry car for historic sports car racingDesigned by Cedric Selzer, Jim Clark's race engineer in 1963/64, who came up with a conventional spaceframe chassis clad with aluminium panels, the Nerus Silhouette was intended to run in the Formula F100 series. This was a short-lived attempt to do for sports car racing what Formula Ford had done for single-seaters, Formula F100 was announced in the UK in 1969 but lasted for only a couple of seasons. F100 was conceived along similar lines to Formula Ford, lightly modified production engines and road tyres being mandatory, and was intended to replace the sometimes ill-supported sports-racing and GT events at club meetings.Believed to be one of five cars created, the example offered here is powered by a 2-litre Lotus-Ford twin cam motor, mated to a Hewland Mark 8 gearbox. Running twin 48mm Dellorto carburettors and dry sump lubrication with fully adjustable suspension, the car is running and driving but following some years of inactivity will need careful recommissioning and the safety equipment updating. Raced by David Beckett, it ran in the Spa Six Hours in 2001, 1990 FIA papers and a rolling road report from that year are also available. A fabulous opportunity to break into historic racing in a truly special car. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 47/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1936 Riley 12/4 Kestrel SpriteRegistration no. DGF 972Chassis no. SS27K5227Odometer reading: 00733MOT expiry date: N/A * A genuine SS chassis numbered Kestrel Sprite* Upgraded with modern wheels and tyres* Good body, paint and a newer interior Revered by many vintage car enthusiasts as an exceptional powerplant that compares well with much more exotic machinery, the heart of any Riley is the wonderful twin-camshaft engine, which gives excellent performance from just 1,087 cc. Introduced in 1926, the four-cylinder unit went on to power various Rileys, until 1957. The new for 1936 Kestrel 6-light sports saloon was offered with the 12/4 1,496cc Sprite engine giving 61bhp; sporting twin carburettors. Complementing this fine power unit is the ENV Wilson pre-selector four-speed gearbox and Girling mechanical rod-operated brakes with a patented operating mechanism. This six-light Kestrel was built on the 112.5' long-wheelbase chassis and was purchased by the vendor in 2016. He has since fitted the Kestrel with 16 inch wheels and radial tyres. The sprite engine has been replaced by a standard tune 12/4 engine, which is currently running without a waterpump. The Kestrel has an attractive body, thought to have been designed by Stanley Riley and built at the Riley works, finished in a lovely combination of red over grey. The leather seats have been recovered at some time. There is some history with the car, including the older V5C registration document; the car now has a new style V5C. Presently running and driving, but having not seen active use in recent years further works and some recommissioning are still necessary. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 60/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1959 Land Rover Series II Registration no. 494 HKJChassis no. 141000108Odometer reading: 21,658MOT Expiry: N/A*In current family ownership since 1962*Exceptionally low mileage *Great potential on offerThis Land Rover Series II offers the rare opportunity of purchasing a family owned vehicle of 59 years . Officially unveiled in 1958, the Land Rover Series II was the first land Rover to be officially 'styled' by a design team headed by David Bache. This included adding a more rounded design, adding features that are recognisable even on a modern day Defender. The Series II also offered mechanical improvements over its predecessor, such as wider axels and a new 2286 four-cylinder petrol engine. This example, purchased by the vendors father in 1962, has been used sparingly through its life and has covered only 21,658 miles. The vehicle is in good condition, however will require further attention. The exterior body is solid but has acquired various dings and scratches over its lifetime, including a large dent on the front wing. The interior is also of a typical working Land Rover condition and could require further attention if desired. The roof of the car also has a large rip on the left hand side. Considering its one owner history the car comes with an excellent history file, but will require further attention mechanically. There is certainly great potential on offer here.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 70/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. Available in 'Normale' - with a single carburettor - and twin carburettor Sprint versions, the 101 series cars combine the charm and poise of the Giulietta with real long distance touring ability. The car offered was supplied new to a lady by E. L. Bouts Motors Ltd of Wolverhampton and has had four documented owners, the first of whom kept the car until 1972. It then passed to another lady owner who kept the Alfa until 1974 when it was sold to the penultimate keeper who sold the car to the present owner in 1985. He then embarked on a full restoration, which took several years and has resulted in the exceptional car we see here. Reported as running and driving very well, the Alfa is offered with its history, including the old 'green' registration book, the previous and current V5Cs, letters from the first owner in 1972, past MOTs and tax discs, and an original owner's manual and service book. Benefiting from an alternator conversion fitted during the electrical rewire. The car has been MOT tested and passed with no advisories – the tester commenting on what a fine example it is. 1961 Austin Healey 3000 MkIIRegistration no. TBAChassis no. H-BT7-L/16109Odometer reading. 278MOT expiry date. Exempt*Desirable 2+2 Convertible model with overdrive*Left-hand drive*Well restored exampleThis fine 'big Healey' is left-hand drive BT7 (2+2) model built for the North American market, despatched from the factory to San Francisco, California in February 1962. The desirable overdrive transmission, adjustable steering column, heater, laminated windscreen and wire wheels are among the original items of equipment listed on the accompanying BMIHT certificate. Re-imported into the UK circa 1996, the Healey was then stripped to a bare chassis and bodyshell and rebuilt with new floor panels, sills and outriggers. New interior trim, carpets and hood were fitted also, while other noteworthy features include a tonneau cover and an electric radiator cooling fan. Immediately after the previous owner purchased the car in 1997 the mechanicals were totally rebuilt and the engine fitted with a new cylinder block (complete short engine with pistons, crankshaft, etc). The gearbox was rebuilt and the speedometer was replaced, hence the low recorded mileage. During the current ownership the Healey has received all new body panels, and a complete respray in stunning blue over white coachwork complemented by cream leather with blue piping. The car has been stored in a heated garage in its present Healey Owners Club members ownership and used sparingly, on sunny days only. Accompanying documentation consists of the aforementioned BMIHT certificate and an old UK V5 registration document for the age-related mark 'XFO 226'. The car comes with a host of new spares including a chrome rocker cover and chrome wire wheel with new tyre. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 82/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1996 Aston Martin DB7 CoupéRegistration no. L90 SPAChassis no. Styled by Ian Callum, the design is sleek yet muscular and has proved completely timeless – a common feat with Callum's designs. Co-developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, the DB7 was fitted with the 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine featured in the Jaguar XJ – but with an added Eaton supercharger, bringing the power up to 335bhp. This automatic example is in good condition and has been maintained to a high standard over its lifetime. The car's service history booklet is full of stamps with servicing undertaken by Stratstone Aston Martin of Wilmslow right up until 2006. From then onwards the car has been looked after by Aston Martin specialists. The car also comes with its original inspection certificate, as well as the private number plate featured. The car has only covered 1,000 miles since 2016. The bodywork presents well for a car of this age, as does the inside but it could require attention in some places. The car runs and drives well and also has a full years MOT.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 65/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1968 Land Rover Series IIA ProjectRegistration no. KCW 298GChassis no. 24134571DOdometer reading: MOT Expiry: *V8 Project car with F1 roots*One if its kind and truly unique*Bespoke exhaust *Re-engineered gearboxThis Land Rover Series IIA presents a rare opportunity to build a vehicle that is truly one of its kind. This project vehicle was the brainchild of F1 engineer Alistair Oxley, who decided to build himself the ultimate Land Rover series IIA whilst he was at Williams. Unhappy with the stock engine on the car, Oxley had a brand new never run TVR V8 engine fitted to the car. The engine, from chassis number 001, was a 3.9 unit that was bored to 4.0. The engine is Group A spec with SI Large throttle bodies, TVR/TWR ECU, modified heads and valves with ARP bolts throughout. A massive amount of work has been undertaken with the car, with extras fettled by Williams where he was working at the time. This includes a custom exhaust engineered by a Williams. The exhaust is made of Inconel which was gas flowed with equal length headers and twin exits – incredibly bespoke. The leaf springs, brakes and shocks are also bespoke to the car and the gearbox has been completely rebuilt and reengineered. It has a new galvanised chassis and bulkhead along with many boxes of new parts such as ECUs, panels, glass, wings and and more are also included with the vehicle. Aspects to the build such as the interior are still incomplete but offer an incoming owner the opportunity to put their own stamp on the car. 1966 Austin Mini CooperRegistration no. HAY 571DChassis no. C-A2S7/873721Odometer reading: 33,600MOT Expiry: N/A*Immaculate 1960s Mini*UK car with large history file*Car shown at events, including 50 years of the Mini CooperIntroduced in 1959, the Austin Mini soon became an icon of 1960s British popular culture. The example shown here, a 1966 Austin Mini Cooper with the 998cc engine, was a later vehicle manufactured towards the end of the run in April 1966 for the UK market. The car was specified in the de-luxe trim to include a factory heater. Sold new via Lathams of Leicester, the car stayed local to Northampton until 2006. Between 1987-2005 the car was owned by John's Motors in Fosters Booth, Northampton. Established in 1963 the company has been run for many years by the founders son, well known historic single seater racer Jon Millicevic. Jon is well known for winning in superbly self-prepared cars. Whilst in his care he changed the colour of the car from the original white with a black roof (as described on the Heritage Certificate on file) to the current livery of fiesta yellow and white roof. In 2005 he sold it to Edward Bishop, Managing Director of Connaught Racing Cars. He kept the car for 18 months before selling to the next owner who undertook substantial work, ending in the car being sent to a rolling road (results on file). After buying the car in 2011, the current owner continued to take the car to the potential concours winning level it presents itself in today. The car has been shown at Autolegends, Goodwood's celebration of 50 years of the Mini Cooper, and the Festival Italia celebrating The Italian Job as well as the car being a regular visitor to Goodwood's Sunday breakfast meets. So whether you want to enter Concours events, have a great car to go to Goodwood Revival or simply have that Mini Cooper you have always promised yourself, you will not find a better example. 1979 Lotus Eclat V8 'Spyder Donington' CoupéRegistration no. Lotus themselves had built a Rover V8-engined Elite prototype, only for the project to be vetoed by Colin Chapman who was intent on using only Lotus's own power plants. The Spydersport chassis was rust and corrosion inhibited and the Rover five-speed manual gearbox was specified. The Spyder Donington could be ordered with power assisted steering and air conditioning, while other noteworthy features included a Jaguar XJ limited-slip differential with inboard disc brakes. This Eclat-based Spyder Donington was last on the road in 1999 and has been in storage since 2000. The car was converted in 1990 and used in Spydersport's publicity material (see file). Previous owner I P Morrison clearly found driving the Lotus a daunting prospect: 'Lotus V8 too fast for me. This 2CV Fourgonette is a prime example of that, and is now also increasingly rare. This low mileage 1958 example was imported into the UK from France in 2014, and had been previously owned by a single family in France since new. The car has since undergone a complete ground up restoration with all the receipts, photos and documents included. The van has had a new exhaust, wings, brakes, tyres, battery and many other new parts. The van has also been rewired with everything working as it should. The body has received fresh paintwork being finished in the iconic Gris Clair colour scheme. The chassis has also received extensive work, and has been finished in gloss black to ensure protection. The van runs and drives very well, and is fitted with front indicators for safety purposes (these can also be removed if desired). A spare fan, clutch and plate is included in the sale. The mileage is incredibly low for a vehicle of this age at 26,400km, and also comes with a large history file. This 2CV could certainly provide an incoming owner with much enjoyment and practicality for many more years to come.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 84/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 2006 Bentley Continental GTRegistration no. SEW 550Chassis no. SCBCE63WX6C037665Engine no. 019742Odometer reading. 32,000MOT expiry date. 14/06/2021*One owner from new and in the best colour combination*Fully serviced regularly with full service and MOT history*Always garaged and in outstanding conditionThe Bentley Continental GT was the Volkswagen Group's first flying B car and what a magnificent debut it was. Launched in 2003, the company really excelled itself - in a daring riposte to BMW and Mercedes-Benz's V12 engines, the Continental GT boasted a W12 motor with twin turbochargers and no less than 48 valves. A development of the technology that the Group had learned with VR6 engines but engineered and manufactured in Great Britain, the W12 is a masterpiece of compact design and a pinnacle of smoothness and sophistication. The fine GT that we present here has a most fitting registration number - SEW 550 - it really does run like a beautifully balanced 550 bhp sewing machine! With just one owner from new and in generally very good condition throughout, this GT has always been garaged, by night and day, when not on the road. It has been little used, hence the low mileage, but has been serviced and cosseted in accordance with its calendar requirements as well as by mileage covered. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC AMG 6.0 'Wide Body'Registration no. Not UK registeredChassis no. WDB1260451A511881Odometer reading: 57,400MOT Expiry: 01/03/2022 *Incredibly rare 1 of just 26 believed Wide Body AMGs*Beautiful Blue-Black metallic paint*The pinnacle of Mercedes performance and luxury The Mercedes-Benz 560SEC AMG Wide Body is one of the most iconic AMG vehicles ever built. Based on the standard 560 SEC, the AMG featured the same 300bhp 5.6-litre V8, but bored out to 6.0-litres – boosting the power to 385bhp. This additional power helped propel the car from 0-60 in under 6 seconds – a phenomenal figure at the time for a vehicle of this stature. Not only that, but the AMG model was also fitted with a bespoke 'Wide Body' aero kit, stiffened suspension, larger disc brakes, and much more. Inside, the AMG was also equipped with electronically adjustable Recaro seats, additional walnut wood trim, an AMG specific steering wheel, and chrome door sills. It is the opinion of many that the 560 SEC AMG was, and still ,is the ultimate AMG Mercedes. Built in October 1989, the example shown here was originally ordered new from a dealership in Munich, Germany. Various optional extras were fitted to the car from factory such as automatic climate control, a fire extinguisher and heated front seats. The car is in very good condition inside and out, and features the correct Blue-Black metallic paint and black leather interior. Overall the car runs well and is in very good condition, and comes with a good history file. Imported to the UK by its enthusiast owner in 2017, the AMG has sat in his private collection virtually unused. Benefitting from a recent service and MOT the AMG is ready to use. The official production figures for the Wide Body AMGs are unknown, but believed to be just 26 - the cars are exceptionally rare and difficult to come by. This is a prime opportunity to own one of the greatest Mercedes AMGs ever produced.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 78/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SprintRegistration no. 569 UYVChassis no. AR 1493 08616Odometer reading: 89,848kmsMOT expiry date: Exempt*Low mileage with good history*Good paintwork and interior trim*A stylish sports GT *Left-hand driveThe 750 and 101 Giulietta series was Alfa Romeo's first foray into the 1,300cc class and proved immensely popular; it probably saved the carmaker. With its beautifully balanced design and jewel-like 1,290cc twin overhead cam engine, it found nearly 180,000 buyers in berlina, spider and various coupe forms, in its production run from 1954 to 1965. Of course many have succumbed to corrosion and neglect but the example seen here has obviously been cherished and preserved beautifully. Delivered in March 1959 to a customer in Italy, according to its Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione Provenance document, this Giulietta was originally Bianco Gardenia but is now presented in a beautiful period dark blue, with a lovely correct blue/grey vinyl and cloth interior. Purchased by the present owner at the 2016 Automotoretro fair in Padua, Italy, it has been mechanically and electrically restored by marque experts DTR Sports Cars at a cost of some £30,000 (bills available) in 2020. This is a matching numbers car, fitted with the rare 5 speed gearbox option and an expensive handling kit which makes it even sweeter to drive. A great opportunity to acquire a Giulietta that is a delight to drive and just as pleasing on the eye. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 93/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1969 Lotus Seven Series 3Registration no. H3299BBD (Spanish Historic Registration)Chassis no. LSB 2454Frame no. BL2162Odometer reading: 9,878 miles* Matching numbers car * Two private owners from new* Lotus Classic Certificate of Vehicle ProvenanceWhen the Lotus Seven was launched in 1957, designed by the legendary Colin Chapman, it was far ahead of any other sports racing cars of the era. The car was so right first time, it is still in production today, as the Caterham. It is the second most copied car on the planet. Lotus produced the classic Seven through until 1970, the Series 3 benefiting from a strengthened chassis, wider wheels and tyres, slightly wider and strengthened Ford Escort Mexico back axle, exterior fuel filler, and even a fuel guage! This Lotus is a genuine factory built Seven that was released from Lotus Components in Hethel on the 18th April 1969, and shipped to the Lotus distributor in Canada. The optional extras were stated to be mag/alloy wheels and a heater. It was part of the very last batch of approximately 70 LHD now classic Lotus 7s assembled by the factory. It was purchased by an enthusiast in Calgary, who had a small car collection, and used it mainly for the local car club events. The last recorded competition event was on the 11th September 1979, although it is said to have participated in hill climbs in the early 80s, after which the car was put in to dry storage. The Lotus changed hands for the first and only time in 2012 at 8238 miles, when the present owner shipped the car to Spain, via the UK. Whilst in the UK it was inspected by the Lotus Seven Registrar, who confirmed that it is a genuine, original Lotus. It still had the original tyres, so it was refitted with Pirelli Cinturatos, so that it could be driven safely, and pass the Spanish ITV. It had all of the original equipment, the hood and seat belts pretty much unused. The aluminium body bore the scars of a few competition mishaps, and after 42 years was too brittle to restore properly, the chassis had been oversprayed in silver with a rattle can, in an effort to enhance the appearance. It had also been modernised with Caterham wings and rear lights, which have now been replaced with the correct items. The chassis was sent to Xtra Special Sevens, checked to be rust free, and in perfect alignment. It was powder coated in Lotus grey, and a beautiful new aluminium skin hand formed around the chassis, by a skilled craftsman. Wherever possible the original parts and components were cosmetically restored, the bolts re plated/re chromed, the mag alloy wheels re finished to concours standard. When you sit in this car, you are sitting on the original seat fabric, holding the original Springall steering wheel, and looking at the original dashboard. Even the carpet over the transmission tunnel, is the original item. Compare the black and white picture of the engine bay taken from the Series 3 section of the Lotus Seven Register, with the colour picture, it is identical, right down to the Barnacle suction rear view mirror. Even the exhaust silencer and tail pipe were remanufactured to the original pattern and it has the correct Thorpe PT 675 brake/stop/side lights. It must surely be one of the most correct Lotus Seven Series 3s.The sidescreens are original, although the old opaque plastic windows have been replaced, and the hood, frame and fittings are totally original. This lightweight Lotus is powered by the original Ford Cortina GT crossflow engine, with the Weber 32 DFM twin choke downdraught carburettor. During the rebuild the ignition was upgraded to an electronic distributor head, which combined with a new coil gives a much improved and reliable spark.Whilst the chassis was being refinished, as a matter of house keeping, the gearbox was stripped and checked and rebuilt, and later the rear axle was also rebuilt with a new crown wheel and pinion, to the correct standard ratio of 3.77:1. The clutch plate was renewed whilst the engine and gearbox were out of the car. All of the serviceable bolts and fixings were retained, re plated and reused. The front brake calipers were serviced and replated, new discs and pads fitted, and the rear brakes received new cylinders and brake shoes. The brake and clutch master cylinders were also serviced. The front suspension components were media blasted and re finished in Lotus Grey, the cast components were ceramic coated to keep the surface good for many years. The Spax shock absorbers were repainted, and new logos applied. The 4 branch header and exhaust system were also ceramic coated in a period silver, for a durable and attractive finish.During the present owner's tenure, the Lotus twice entered the annual Classics and Legends event at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, and had an outing with the South of France Lotus Seven group, for a blast up Mont Ventoux. It also won a concours trophy immediately after restoration at the Marina Alta Classic Car Club. The really great news about a Lotus Seven as a classic car, is that although 50 years old, it keeps up with and will even out perform many modern cars, and has an aluminium body that will not rust. With the Caterham versions still in production today, outwardly unchanged, this car still looks perfectly at home on the roads of the 21st Century as it did in the 60s.. As an added bonus, it is a real head turner.During the research of the car's provenance, a gentleman from Calgary was in touch. In 1973 he actually viewed the car as a possible purchase. Sadly the car was well over his budget at the time, and he settled for a cheaper more used model, which he still owned at the time of the correspondence. Interestingly he was reunited with our car in 2012 as it was being prepared for shipping, and confirmed that it was the same car he viewed in '73. There is a signed document from him to support this history. This car comes with a NOVA certificate, so that it has cleared customs and can be registered in the UK, and the Spanish registration papers which should enable registration world wide. This Lotus would sit well in any collection, but is no 'trailer queen', and could equally be enjoyed for fun days out.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 93/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1963 Porsche 356C CoupéRegistration no. TBAChassis no. 127210Odometer reading: 88,733MOT Expiry: N/A *Very original 356C*Supplied new to Sonauto Porsche in France*Maintained with Porsche parts only The Porsche 356 was Porsche's first ever production car and is arguably one of the world's greatest sports cars. Originally introduced in 1948, the 356 had a 17 year production run with the 356C being the last revision before the introduction of the 911 in 1964. The 356C's performance was enhanced significantly when it was introduced in 1963, and was offered with disk brakes and dampened steering. These additions made the car much more responsive than the 356B, and arguably more enjoyable to drive. Other features that helped to distinguish the 356C from its A and B predecessors include revised bodywork (identified by dual air intakes on the engine lid), and larger front and rear windows. This example is a European specification car and was originally delivered new to Sonauto Porsche, France in 1963. The car was then imported to Lebanon in 2015 where the current owner acquired the car in 2019. The car has been maintained meticulously with Porsche parts and is very original and believed unrestored, yet also refreshed with some new parts. 1983 Matra MurenaRegistration no. A692 EHNChassis no. DX 704441EEngine no. N/AOdometer reading: 114,393 (184,099 kilometres)MOT expiry date: 03/02/22 * A rare model of an idiosyncratic sports car* Mechanically totally overhauled with significant performance upgrades* Good history with previous ownership of 27 yearsThe Matra Murena is a rare car in any form and this example is particularly special. At the last count there were only 18 Murenas on the road in the UK, the majority of which are 1.6s, this example is the only one with this engine specification, having a 2.2 litre motor that has been tuned to give more power than the top of the range 'S' model. The engine was rebuilt by Roy Gillard of Redwood Repairs and consisted of a reground crankshaft, re-bored block, water pump reconditioned, cylinder head replaced, and a new camshaft especially made by Piper Cams. Invoice on file. The engine was converted to accept twin reconditioned 45mm Dellorto carburettors and was set up on a rolling road where it achieved 144 bhp. Putting all this power down is a new clutch on a lightened flywheel and a 10% higher top gear has been fitted. The suspension and cooling systems have been overhauled and upgraded, including replacement trailing arms, a known weak point. These and the complete chassis have been extensively Waxoiled, part for works totalling more than £6,600. The coachwork was repainted some 20 years ago but is wearing its age well. A rare example ready to be enjoyed. 1975 Rolls-Royce CornicheCoachwork by H J Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd.Registration no. JBN 549NChassis no. CRH19358Odometer reading: 94,330MoT expiry date: exempt*One of the last coachbuilt Rolls-Royces*Previously registered in Canada*Last MoT'd in 2010Recalling its glamorous Grandes Routières of pre-war days such as the Phantom II Continental, Rolls-Royce's final coachbuilt models - entrusted to the company's in-house coachbuilder Mulliner, Park Ward - were limited to just two: a two-door coupé or similar convertible, the former arriving in March 1966 and the latter in September the following year. The cars were hand built in the best traditions of British coachbuilding using only materials of the finest quality, including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide, and burr walnut veneers, a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks for the saloon and slightly longer for the more complex convertible. This painstaking attention to detail resulted in a price some 50% higher than the standard Silver Shadow's. Nevertheless, demand for these more glamorous alternatives to the much more numerous Shadow was strong right from the start, a state of affairs that resulted in them being given their own model name - 'Corniche' - in March 1971. Despite its sky-high asking price, the model proved a major success for Rolls-Royce; periodically revised and up-dated, it remained in production well into the 1990s, the last (Convertible) examples being delivered in 1995.it was once registered in British Columbia, Canada and last MoT'd in 2010, the car comes with a large history file including numerous bills and recent expenditure.Footnotes:Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereVendor Score Total: 61/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. SALLDHA67VA121591Odometer reading: circa 151,000MoT expiry date: TBC*2.5-litre turbo diesel engine*Restored during 2019*Converted to accommodate a bed in the rearFollowing the successful reception of the all-new Land Rover Discovery in 1989, it was decided to give the traditional Land Rover its own name: Defender. Despite, or perhaps because of, being recognisable related to the very first Land Rover of 1948, the Defender retained a steadfastly loyal customer base; indeed, in the UK in 2013 it even managed to out-sell the Range Rover. Restored during 2019, this single-cab Defender 110 TDi pickup has been converted to accommodate a bed in the rear, as well as a sink and gas hob, for the vendor's son to take to music festivals and other events. 1971 Fiat 500LRegistration no. APN 938KChassis no. 2836624Odometer reading: 53,975MOT Expiry: N/A*RHD example*Previously restored*Unique sports exhaustThe Fiat 500L, or 500 'Lusso' as it was known, was produced between 1967-1975 and was essentially a better appointed version of the standard 500. The car featured an additional chrome bar on the front fascia, updated interior, black steering wheel, plastic dash, plus reclining seats and carpets. This 1971 example is in excellent condition and has been previously restored. The car has plenty of receipts on file from a previous owner who undertook the restoration, with the bodywork and paint appointed by Weenie Fiats in the West Country. There are also receipts for a 650cc engine that was purchased in Italy, as well as receipts for Fiat 124 pistons that were fitted in 2010. The sump is also an Abarth replica, and the car has a sports exhaust. The car runs very well, and the little twin carb engine together with the sports exhaust add to the already enjoyable driving experience. The car was also photographed for a Christmas advertising campaign for Jo Malone perfumes, however it is not known whether the images were officially used in print. The car is well finished inside and out, and the paint and interior trim present particularly well. Overall the car is in excellent condition and would prove to be a very enjoyable classic runabout. On a recent test drive this little wolf in sheep's clothing performed faultlessly, a spirited drive, excellent performance and sporty sounds with no undue rattles or noises from within its comfortable cabin.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 88/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1950 Land Rover Series I 80 InchRegistration no. 849 EYFChassis no. R06105133Odometer reading: N/AMOT Expiry: N/A*Immaculate example*Recent full restoration by two long term Land Rover Enthusiasts*Rebuilt engine with 14 miles covered since rebuild *All main components, including axles stripped & rebuilt The Land Rover Series I (80' Lights behind the grille) is the ultimate classic. Not only is the car instantly recognisable, but it can also serve a very useful and practical purpose if desired. This example shown here is in immaculate condition and has just received a full restoration from the ground up. The engine, a 2-litre Siamese bore (visually identical to the 1.6 litre), has been professionally machined by a Land Rover specialist and has been fully rebuilt using Cox and Turner parts. The car runs and drives very well and pulls quietly and smoothly as it should. The original radiator dating from 1950 is in excellent condition, with a new Cox and Turner water pump and correct period hoses from CKD Ltd. The gearbox has also been stripped, inspected and rebuilt with new parts where necessary. The axles have been stripped and rebuilt with new parts, including new wheel bearings all-round as well as new swivels and seals. The Tracta joints are also in excellent condition. In terms of the braking system, there is a new master cylinder, new lines, wheel cylinders, reservoir, hoses and shoes all-round. The handbrake mechanism has also been fully rebuilt. The car also has its original chassis which is in excellent condition, invisibly restored where necessary, and painted to match the body. Inside, the dash panel has been fully restored. All the dials and warning lights are working as they should, as is the choke and hand-throttle control. There is also a new Autosparks full period wiring loom and a new dynamator with original control box. New indicators have also been fitted discreetly, along with the original trafficators which have been restored (and work independently from the indicators). New spade seats have also been fitted, along with a brand-new canvas hood and sticks supplied by Undercover Covers UK.The bodywork is in excellent condition. The original panels were media-blasted to bare metal and then fully resprayed to a very high standard in Deep Bronze Green (2K) paint. The tub has been fully restored along with a new floor and rear bulkhead fitted by CKD, so the rear can be used with ease by a new owner. CKD also supplied a new tailgate, wings and doors (with seals). The cappings, fittings and frames have been re-galvanised and refitted with using correct rivets. The car comes with a V5, all bills and a photographic record of the restoration. It also has a Gaydon Heritage Certificate showing it was first delivered to the Ministry of Supply in 1950.This restoration has been untaken with respect to the original car and to the highest of standards. The car should certainly stand the test of time in the years to come. Externally, the bumpers were changed from chrome to aluminium alloy and rubber. This Rolls-Royce was purchased new by the present family owners from H R Owen in 1978 and was in dry garaged storage, on jacks, from 1980 until 2019. 1971 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I SaloonRegistration no. TUF 976JChassis no. LRH9764Odometer reading: 69,534MOT Expiry: Expired 03/05/2019 *Low mileage Silver Shadow*Honest example*Mostly original The Silver Shadow is one of the most important and iconic vehicles ever produced by Rolls-Royce. The epitome of luxury in 1965, the Silver Shadow was in production for 15 years and proved extremely popular for a vehicle at this price point. Notable owners of the Silver Shadow include the likes of Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mohammed Ali, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and many more. The car is renowned for bringing Rolls-Royce into the modern era, debuting unitary construction, disc brakes, independent rear suspension and automotive self-levelling. This example is a honest low mileage car, and is largely original. The car drives very well with no apparent issues, and overall is in good condition. The car was purchased by the vendor for a magazine shoot and is supplied with photographs of invoices and expired tax discs. The previous owner to the vendor had a fire and lost all the original documents, but luckily he had photographed the documents all for his insurance previously, so there is plenty of history that comes with the car. The previous owner of 8 years and the owner beforehand for 30 years. The interior is also in an original condition with some wear on the seats. The paintwork does have some imperfections and touched in areas which could be improved if desired, or simply use as is.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 58/100 Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. TS82163Odometer reading: N/AMOT Expiry: Exempt *UK RHD example*Stunning Wedgewood blue colour scheme*Restored in 2010 The Triumph TR3A is a beautiful classic British sports car. Originally developed from the TR2, the TR3 provides an enjoyable drive from its hearty engine and refined chassis. Essentially a facelift of the standard TR3, the TR3A offered a new wider front grille, exterior door handles, a lockable boot, and full tool kit. The new look gave the car a wider stance and much more grown up look. This 1960 example is a UK right-hand drive car, so is one of the few 1,286 UK cars built. The car is finished in this stunning Wedgwood blue colour scheme with the dark blue leather interior. The side screens, tonneau, hood cover are also new and in superb condition. The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1968 Triumph TR250Registration no. N/AChassis no. CD1856LOdometer reading: 56602MOT expiry date: N/A * Good condition body and frame from US dry state* Comes with large quantity of spare parts* Low mileage and appears complete and originalFootnotes:The Triumph TR250 was the US version of the TR5, substituting Stromberg carburettors for the TR5's fuel injection in order to meet the more stringent US emissions requirements. This older restored TR250 was imported from the US in 2011 and comes with a host of bills for parts. The engine was rebuilt just prior to being imported, in 2011. The car was taxed in California from 1986-91 and a copy of the US title is present, issued in the state of Oregon. All duties and taxes have been paid but not yet UK registered. The TR250 is running and driving well and is an ideal candidate for either conversion to TR5 specification or use and enjoy as it is, after some tidying up and repainting. 1962 Ford Zodiac ConvertibleRegistration no. 657 BKGChassis no. 206EZ62B017018Engine no. Z247697Odometer reading: 50,696MOT expiry date: N/A*Rare convertible survivor*Consistently serviced and maintained by long term owner*Sensitively updated and improved while maintaining originalityPlease click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Combining the practicality of Ford running gear and the glamour of its American-inspired styling and luxury, the 'Mark 2' Zodiac was the top of the line offering from the Blue Oval in 1962. Add to this the convertible top of the car offered here and you have a truly beguiling family-size fast tourer. With its powerful 2553 cc engine and 3-speed manual gearbox, the car offered has the benefit of the optional overdrive and front disc brakes with servo assistance.Further refinements include a power operated hood and extra front driving lights atop the rechromed front bumper. Purchased by the present owner in 2012 and always dry stored and used sparingly, this Zodiac was restored some years ago and is said to be running and driving very well. It has been consistently serviced and maintained and the engine has been updated with a performance-enhancing six branch exhaust manifold (the original 'log' exhaust manifold was the major restriction to the six cylinder engine's standard performance) and electronic ignition. With its lovely combination of two-tone blue over white paintwork being matched by the retrimmed interior, this Zodiac from the last year of Mark 2 production represents excellent value for a fast and stylish four seat tourer.Vendor Score Total: 64/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH.
