Keulen, Johannes van (c.1654-1715)Bookseller and publisher of Amsterdam, was founder of a family firm which lasted until 1885. His son Gerard van Keulen, grandson Johannes II and great-grandson Gerard Hulst van Keulen improved and updated later charts. His first publication was De Groote Nieuwe Vermeerderde Zee-Atlas Ofte Water-Werelt of 1680, in many languages and running to many editions. His other publication was De Nieuwe Groote Lichtende Zee-Fakkel, of 1681, which is essentially a pilot-guide with more text.A Chart of Ireland and the Irish Sea (1680)“Pascaart vande Canaal Engeland, Schotland en Yrland, Synde vande miswysingh en veel fouten verbetert door veel Ervaerne Stierlieden. It is from De Groote Lichtende ofte Vyerighe Colom. (1651). 540 x 240 (chart only) or 540 x 440 (chart and text).

It also has four rectangular insets of harbours in France and England in the lower right quarter. 540 x 435.

An 18th century oak estate bureau cabinet, probably Scottish, in two parts surmounted by an architectural arched pediment over a pair of cupboard doors having shaped, raised and fielded panels flanked by quarter turned pilasters, over a slope front enclosing drawers and niches around a door and upright 'secret' stores and over a slide top well and a shallow long drawer flanked by carved relief carved shells over two short and three long graduated drawers, flanked by conforming quarter turned pilasters, the whole raised on ogee moulded bracket feet Condition Report original country estate condition, good colour, numerous old repairs commensurate with age and type, the interior fitted with an strip light !
An 18th century George III estate oak and pollard oak low dresser, the wide two plank top over a dentil moulded frieze over a fielded panelled centre door flanked by three drawers to each side, 87 cm high x 192 cm long x 57 cm wide Condition Report good overall original structure, a few areas of spiced in repair to drawer front corners, moulding to bottom left corner missing, evidence of old worm commensurate with age and type, handles probably replacements for single drop originals but its not obvious !
