A George III longcase clock, inscribed Robert Lough, Penrith , the arched brass dial, with Roman numeral hours and Arabic minutes and date dial surmounted with a moon phase to the arch, fitted with an 8-day movement striking a bell, contained within an arched hood with swan-neck pediment and brass finial above a glazed door flanked by turned columns, above a mahogany trunk with shaped panel door and raised on a panelled box base with shaped ogee bracket feet. 245cms high.
Masson, Paris: a French Boulle marquetry bracket clock , the 22cms decorative circular dial with white enamel shaped numeral cartouches and blue roman numerals, fitted with an 18th Century eight-day two-train movement striking on a gong, circular tapered pillars, the backplate signed 'Masson Paris' , the large solid count-wheel is numbered (1-12), with silk suspended pendulum (cycloidal cheeks), the 19th Century ornate Boulle work case with detachable scroll decorated top surmounted by a figure of Old Father Time flanked by finials, arched glazed door below with pierced foliate apron with interior panel decorated with two female figures of Flora and Urania flanking a globe with enamelled nameplate 'Masson Paris', canted sides surmounted by cherubs and decorated with foliate designs continuing down to caryatid supports, shaped glazed panel sides, raised on decorative incurved platform with square section acanthus feet, the whole raised on a Boulle work bombé-shaped stand on gilt paw feet, 210.5cms high (some damage).

A late 17th century walnut and oyster walnut veneered cabinet, with isometric crossbandings, fitted with an arrangement of thirteen drawers, four behind a central door, enclosed by a pair of doors, on a reproduction walnut projecting stand with scrolled supports, 103cm wide x 48cm deep x 116cm high.
AN IRISH MAHOGANY TABLE CLOCK, THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY AND LATER the associated Irish case with stepped and shaped caddy top above moulded arches to front and rear, glazed side panels and rear door, on pad feet, the dial with silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes enclosing a false bob aperture to the matted centre above twin winding apertures (one dummy), applied mask and foliate scroll spandrels, the break arch with applied silvered boss bearing signature ~Furnace / Dublin~ flanked by further applied foliate scrolls, the Irish eight day single fusee movement with pull cord to strike the hour and quarters on two bells, the back plate with engraved chevron border and signed ~Geo. Furnace / Dublin~ within a shaped cartouche, with pendulum and key 44cm high with carrying handle raised Irish table clocks of the second half of the 18th century often seem to feature the unusual shaped top seen in this clock: for a similar Irish Georgian case (with its original movement) see Dreweatts, Newbury, 11 March 2008, lot 112. George Furnace is recorded as a clockmaker working in Dublin between 1751-73. Provenance: James McCann (1840-1904), Irish nationalist MP and stockbroker, of Simmonscourt Castle, Ballsbridge, Dublin and the Ardsallagh estate, Navan, Co. Meath; thence by family descent.
