A GEORGE III MAHOGANY CHAMBER BARREL ORGAN BY HENRY BRYCESON with six stops, drum, "Tabour" triangle, twenty four keys and four barrels each of ten tunes, in lancet arched Gothic case with gilt dummy pipes and painted signature board inscribed H BRYCESON 3 Little Thames Street East Street LONDON with crown and lion and unicorn supporters, PATENT below, in an oval frame, two printed DIRECTIONS labels inside the door, with brass winding crank, on panelled base, the whole flanked by pilasters with carved capitals, 193cm h; 54 x 77cm Henry Bryceson established his business in 1796 at 3 Little Thames Street. He is recorded there in Holden`s and the Post Office Directories until 1809 but by 1810 is listed at 22 Market Street, St James`s, London. ++Entirely unrestored and original but with losses and very dusty/dirty with the appearance of having been long stored in perhaps a stable or coach house or similar. Rare in this `pure` state. See the following lot.
