1986 Jeep CJ-7 Transmission: manualMileage:51420The Willys Jeep (later Kaiser Jeep or AMC Jeep) is the civilian version of the Willys military Jeep of World War II. The first Willys CJ prototype (the CJ-2) was introduced in 1944 and the same basic vehicle remained in production through seven variants and three corporate parents through 1986 when production of the Jeep model was officially ended. The Jeep CJ-7 and Jeep CJ-8 were replaced in 1986 by the similar-looking Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep CJ-7 featured a wheelbase 10" longer than that of the CJ-5 and lacked its trademark rear curve of the door cut-outs. To help improve vehicle handling and stability, the rear section of the chassis stepped out to allow the springs and shock absorbers to be mounted closer to the outside of the body.Presented in blue with grey trim, this late UK supplied 1986 CJ-7 was one of the last built. According to the previous owner, this is a Renegade specification example which was initially restored prior to 1998. Sitting on two inch wider than stock arch extensions and Sahara deep dish wheels with BFG mud terrain tyres and raised Rancho shocks. In 2008, an AC 5.0 litre V8 engine was purchased to replace the 4.2 litre and circa £9,000 was spent with AC Automotive having it rebuilt and installed it with all new pistons, a Holley injection system costing £2,400 and a further £2,000 spent on a custom stainless steel exhaust system and a new radiator. It was then decided to have the car taken back to bare metal and repainted in an original Jeep colour – a further £3,500! New seats and half doors were supplied and fitted from the US and an occasional soft top is supplied. Currently showing 51,420 miles however, the new engine was fitted at 36,000 miles (just 15,000 miles since engine rebuild). This Jeep is offered with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until July 2023 but will require recommissioning to be fully roadworthy.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE G-Wagon Transmission: automaticMileage:90991The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history with a span of 32 years. The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres, and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking, and a tachometer become standard. This very original example is presented in metallic grey with cloth 'Recaro' interior and comes with automatic transmission, front grille mounted fog lights and a fitted tow bar. It had a 'short' engine replacement at 36,562 miles which is documented in the history file and the odometer is currently showing a mere 91,000 miles which is very low for a vehicle of its age. This iconic 4x4 was last used on the road in 2008 and has been dried stored ever since. This 280 GE has recently had light recommissioning which entailed new brakes, battery, alternator, fuel pump, new shock absorbers, the fuel tank refurbished and four new Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tyres. The interior is in nice condition with the added benefit of having the extra rear seats, therefore offering the nine-seat option which is extremely useful and electric windows to the front and rear. This Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2024, its original booklets, manuals, full set of overmats and a copy of its original data sheet. These 4x4 Mercedes-Benz have reached 'cult' status amongst enthusiasts.
