A George III oak painted dial longcase clock, I & E Mason of Worcester, the 12" dial with flower spandrels, black painted Arabic numerals and a flower spray to the centre with calendar aperture below, the 30-hour four-pillar movement striking on a bell, the hood with swan-neck pediment and fluted columns, the inlaid trunk with canted corners and plain moulded door above a plain base box raised on a plinth, 206cm high, 48cm wide, 23cm deep.Condition report: Movement: winds, runs and strikes but not tested for timekeeping.Dial: typical discolouration and faint cracklure. Lower left corner enamel chipped.Hood: finials probably later. Left finial seat needs repair. Door has some splits to veneer and a small veneer patch top left corner. Fair but a little tired.Case: a little tired throughout cosmetically but sound. Base box front and sides split. Plinth worn. No key for door.

An 18th century provincial, oak 8-day longcase clock, the hood with a caddy top and enclosing a 12" square brass dial, signed 'Rd Bullock, Ellesmere', with cherubim spandrels, chapter ring, Roman numerals and Arabic 5 minute markers, subsidiary dial for seconds and date aperture, the long trunk door, with ovolo edge bead and patched where lenticle positioned, the 8-day movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell, with pendulum and two weights, some restoration, approximately 207cm highCondition report: Caddy top probably later and probably a 19thC addition, Hood lacking lower edge moulding on left hand side return. Later drilled sound-holes left and right sides and door glass cracked in several places. Several holes below frieze on right side.On trunk large later oak patch covering the original lenticle aperture.Chips, dents and scratches consistent with age and use. Shaped plinth probably later. Overall colour - nice.

A George III mahogany and walnut longcase clock, with two train striking movement by Benson Whitehaven, the 13" silvered brass dial with centre date hand and flanked by plain columns with shaped trunk door flanked by quarter column corners and all raised on bracket feet. Height including brass finial 226 cm, case width at widest point 50 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock is currently set up in the saleroom ticking away and striking. It is keeping good time. Clearly we do have the weights and pendulum. We have the winding and door key. The door lock is a later lock. The hood is in generally good condition. The block beneath the eagle and ball finial is not original and the finial probably later also. It looks as if there will originally have been perhaps a wheatsheaf here which is missing. The cornice has minor losses and nibbles. The hood door is not warped. The mask around the dial fits. The clock is not a marriage. The trunk door is not warped. The quarter columns and sides of the trunk are in good condition. The base front panel has a full height left hand stress fracture, all feet are present. The front right hand foots is slightly sprung from the case. Please note: Cumbrian clocks do not generally have rear bracket feet and this is the case with this one.

Height 204 cm, width 146 cm, depth 59 cm, dressing table width 104 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The wardrobe is in generally good condition. The doors are not warped and close as they should. There are no splits to the panels. The mirror is in good order. The drawer fronts are in generally good condition. There are some minor nibbles and scuffs around the drawers as one might expect. All metalwork is present. The plinth has some minor marks and scratches as one would expect but again no significant problems. The side panels are in good condition and not split. The dressing table is also structurally sound. The work surface has numerous old ring marks and scratches as one would expect but no real significant problems. All drawer fronts are in generally good condition with only minor scratches and marks commensurate with age. The side panels and legs are in good order. All castors are present. The mirror plate has some minor blemishes but again no significant issues.

Lot 1020

A large Victorian bookcase, with moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors and fixed shelves with plinth beneath. Height 216 cm, width 176 cm, depth 40 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is structurally sound and in generally good order. The cornice is a little tatty and has numerous small top edge nibbles, minor stress fractures and small timber losses. The glazed doors are not warped. They meet in the middle as they should. The glass is cracked. The brass handle operates and clicks into place as it should. This may not be original. There is a lock escutcheon beneath this but no lock. There are some scratches to the door surrounds as one would probably expect. The left hand side of the cabinet has a repair to the front corner where the bottom door hinge is. A section of timber has been let in at this point. There is a small loss to the plinth moulding to the left hand side of this. The right hand side is in good order. The plinth base is in generally good condition with all the usual minor scuffs and marks. The backboards are original.

Lot 1025

A George III mahogany corner cupboard, with swans neck pediment with carved rose terminals with blind fretwork frieze and panelled door opening to shaped shelves flanked by fluted angles. Width 89 cm, height 125 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The carved rosettes to the swans neck pediment are different. The right hand one which is currently detached is probably a later replacement. The carving is not quite so fine. The swans neck pediment and dentil cornice beneath are in good condition all round as is the blind fretwork frieze. The door closes as it should. The lock is present and we have the key. It does operate. The base moulding to the left and right is detached but we have the pieces. The shelves are original. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. On the left hand side bottom corner of the cupboard there is a section of mahogany which is detached. We have the piece.

Lot 1027

A Victorian carved oak side cabinet, with rear upstand, single door and raised on barley sugar twist turned legs with stretchers. Height 103 cm, width 51 cm, depth 36 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound. The rear upstand is in good order. The top surface has old ring and watermarks and what looks like a circular 2" burn. The moulded edge is in good order all round. The door is not warped. The hinges appear to be original. The lock is present, we have the key. The left hand side of the cabinet has four stress fractures. The right hand side has three stress fractures. These are visibly open but there is no movement. The legs and stretchers are in good condition and simply very dirty. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1035

A Regency mahogany breakfront side cabinet, fitted with a drawer and glazed doors flanked by twist turned pilasters and raised on a tall plinth base. Height 102.5 cm, width 144.5 cm, depth 51.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in extremely good condition. The top is a very good colour and has no splits. The crossbanded edge has a small loss to the front right hand side above the frieze drawer. This is +/- 3 cm in length. The doors are not warped. They close as they should. There is no damage to the glass. The drawer and door fronts are all in good order. The sides of the cabinet are in good condition also with no splits or cracks. The plinth base has some minor scuffs and marks as one would expect. There are some very minor veneer nibbles at the extremities also. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1085

An Edwardian inlaid mahogany grandmother clock, with swans neck pediment, silvered brass dial and three train spring driven movement, with long trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 178 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst the movement is a little dusty and dry it does appear to be ticking and striking when advanced. It is fully wound on the left hand train but does wind on the other two. It has both Westminster and Glockenspiel chimes. The case is in generally extremely good clean condition. There are no splits or any significant scuffs marks or scratches. Both doors are not warped and close as they should. We have the locks and both keys.

Lot 1087

A mahogany bedside cabinet, with chamfered edge above a panelled door opening to shelves. Height 64 cm, width 44 cm, depth 35 cm.

Lot 1092

A 19th century mahogany marble topped side cabinet, with brass grilles to each door flanked by brass columns and raised on a plinth base. Height 92 cm, width 123 cm, depth 38.5 cm.

Lot 1100

A George III oak longcase clock, with 30 hour movement and moon phase by Harrocks Emont (sic) Bridge, inscribed to the arch Elizabeth Robinson. Height 214 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The widest point is 48.5 cm. We have the weight and pendulum. The clock appears to be ticking away as it should. It is not however striking when advanced. The moon phase and date appear to operate when the hands are manually advanced. The case is in generally good condition. The hood is in good order with the exception of the cracked glass. The dial is a little worn in places. The moon phase is well painted with no significant flaking. The trunk door is not warped. There are no splits to the sides. The base is in generally good condition all round. The feet are later additions. The bottom base moulding may also be later we are not sure about this.

Lot 1106

A George III mahogany hanging corner cupboard, with panelled door enclosing shelves and flanked by canted inlaid angles. Height 123 cm, width 81 cm, depth 46 cm.

A George III oak hanging corner cupboard, with starburst to door with brass drop handle and base moulding. Height 94 cm, width 64 cm, depth 36 cm.
