A PAIR OF GILT-BRONZE TAOTIE MASK FITTINGS WITH LOOSE RING HANDLES, WARRING STATES PERIOD TO HAN DYNASTYChina, 5th century BC to 2nd century AD. Each well cast and finely detailed with bulging eyes below thick brows and curved horns, all above a pair of arms, suspending a loose ring from the down-turned nose, which continues into a rectangular tab on the back below another tab pierced for attachment. Fine, solid patina with malachite and cuprite encrustations.Provenance: A French private collection, acquired in Hong Kong during the 1980s. Galerie Archaia, Lyon, France, 2011. A French private collection built between ca. 1980 and 2012, acquired from the above, and thence by descent. A copy of the original invoice from Galerie Archaia, Lyon, dated 9 November 2011, describing the present lot as a pair of gilt bronze taotie from the Warring States period, accompanies this lot.Condition: Very good condition, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, minor dents, small nicks, light scratches, losses, signs of weathering and erosion, casting flaws, and encrustations.Dimensions: Height 13.7 cm (each)Each with a modern acrylic glass stand. J., 'Old Clocks and Watches and their Makers' as working in London circa 1710 - however, features such as the convex throat moulding to the case, and ringed winding holes coupled with stylised sword-hilt half hour markers to the dial, would suggest a date just prior to this for the current lot.Dial - general tarnishing to silvered chapter ring. Discolouration to edges of brass dial. Movement - one hole to front plate is unused (so something has been removed). There is packing to upstands beneath seatboard.Case - damage and depletions commensurate with age, including (but not limited to):Superstructure (over caddy) may be an old replacement, and has been reattached. A mahogany Classical Revival breakfront sideboard, the centre section with plain top and raised back depicting a bird eating fruit, within a foliate banded medallion, over a central drawer with applied carved scrolling foliate decoration, flanked by two caddy top pillars with single drawer above a cupboard door, flanked to each side by carved lion mask monopodia, 221 cm wide x 65 cm deep x 122 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has some signs of splitting to the top, heavy scratches and stains. Some mismatch in wood colour throughout. Some areas of moulding missing. Large split to both sides of both pedestals. A couple of heavy dents. Splits to the drawer linings. Cellarette is fitted but in need of a clean, unknown if water tight. Locks possible replacement, no female part to each. Wear and tear conducive with age and use. There is a large split running across the front of the middle drawer. Comes into three sections, middle and two pedestals. General wear and tear to include water marks, some paint marks, surface scratching, knocks, bruises etc - see images for more details

A 19th Century Irish pine dresser, the associated moulded cornice over a boarded two tier plate rack of typical form and two plank cupboard doors enclosing a single shelf, 105 cm wide x 38 cm deep x 184.5 cm high and a pine single bedstead CONDITION REPORTS The moulded top appears to be a later replacement as well as some of the back boards. There have been later additions to the shelves with plate supports and there is gapping to the plank constuction both on the sides and on the top as well as to the doors. Replacement handles. There are lots of large holes on the cupboard doors - not from worm. However, there are some signs of old worm. The doors have been later glued and braced. Replacement hinges. The right hand door has been broken off at some point going against the hinge. Stained. Watermarked. Heavily scratched. Heavy wear and tear conducive with age and use. In need of considerable restoration throughout. See images for further details.

An Edwardian mahogany Sheraton Revival wardrobe compactum, the central cupboard door enclosing a shelf over five drawers flanked by two mirrored doors enclosing hanging spaces, raised on a plinth base, 190.5 cm wide x 59 cm deep x 209.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Doesn't quite sit right. Top is gapping at the back and can't get it quite on. Possibly needs screwing together - unsure? The left hand side appears to be a little bit more faded compared to the rest of the piece. There is some roughness about 4.5ft up on the right hand side as if it has been rubbing against something continuously. The left hand door will not open without slightly pushing it to the left. Again this might be something to do with it not quite fitting together quite right, rather than it being a problem with the actual door. Some splits to the veneer where they are joined. Replaement screws to the escutcheons. Otherwise general wear and tear conducive with age and use. See images for further detail.
