William Avenell, Alresford, an oak moonphase longcase clock: the eight-day duration five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell, the eleven and a half inch brass break-arch dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and outer five-minute numerals, with unusually the subsidiary strike/silent dial to the dial centre below XII o'clock with a date aperture above VI o'clock and shaped cartouche engraved with the maker's name Will. Avenall, Alresford, with a moonphase aperture to the arch and sweep seconds hand, the oak flat-topped case with fretwork to the hood and three-quarter columns with brass capitals, with a break-arch trunk door and plain base, height 202cm. * Biography William Avenall was a well-known maker recorded working in Old Alresford in circa 1760 with another of the same name known to be in Portsmouth in the early part of the 19th century.

Scobell, Colyton, an oak and mahogany longcase clock:, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the twelve-inch square painted dial having black Roman numerals, floral decoration to the corners, subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel hands, signed to the centre with the maker's name Jno. Scobell, Colyton, the falseplate to the dial embossed with the dial maker's name Walker & Hughes, B/Ham, the oak case with mahogany crossbanding, mahogany canted corners and diamond panels above and below the trunk door, all inlaid with decorative stringing, the flat-topped hood with tapered pillars having brass capitals, height 194cm. * Biography John Spurway Scobell was born in July 1799, the son of Joseph & Mary, and first listed as a clockmaker in Ottery St. Mary in 1830 before moving to Colyton a few years later, a clock signed by him at the latter town is dated for 1837.

Ralph Banks, Devonport, a mahogany longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the brass break-arch dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, the centre with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture and engraved Ralph Banks, Devonport, with an engraved boss to the arch, the mahogany case with wavy edge moulding to the hood door, fluted pillars and standing on bracket feet, 213cm. high. * Biography Ralph Banks is recorded working at Plymouth Dock (Devonport) often using clocks 'bought-in' from top London suppliers including John Thwaites. It is known that he married Rebecca Palmer Collings at Stoke Damerel parish church in December 1782 under whose name the business was listed in 1812.
