An oak-cased clock by Thomas Vale of Walsall 1760-1770. The eight-day movement has a brass hammer, indicating it was a library clock. The brass face has a smiling sun in the arch, there are two spandrels with dolphins and waves. There is a separate silvered chapter ring, a day date and second hand. The carved door has two intertwining flowers - indication of a marriage - and the plinth is carved with grapes and vine leaves, the hands look to have been replaced by mid 19th century examples
