A 19TH CENTURY EBONISED ROSEWOOD CHINESE BOOKCASE ABOVE DESK, heavily carved throughout with dragons, birds, bamboo and fruiting foliage, the pierced and carved arched pediment above glazed double doors enclosing a green baize lined interior with two removable shelves, over a knee hole base with an arrangement of six drawers and cupboard door to the right hand facing side, width 97cm x depth 79cm x height 190cm x height of base 78cm (Condition Report: Ideal for some restoration, as the finish is worn, dusty condition, the baize is heavily faded and torn in places, the desk top panel is pushed back creating a separation, some deeper dents and scratches to this area, the carving around the knee hole has a loose section to the right side, the timber used is very heavy)

Wall cabinet or Polotchka This wall cabinet, or polotchka, is a true gem of Russian craftsmanship. It is made of stained pine and carved with geometric motifs and polychrome rosettes enhanced with gold. The design is based on a drawing signed by the artist, and a similar model can be seen in the Abramtsevo Museum. The lower part of the cabinet opens through a sliding side door, while the upper part is adorned with a round column carved with polychrome motifs. A small compartment opens through a small door, in the center of which is a polychrome floral motif on a red background, topped with gold and silver flowers.
