The only minor issue is that the black paint to the numerals is a little rubbed in places.

Lot 323

A French gilt brass carriage clock by Paul Garnier, Paris, circa 1840/50, with eight day two train movement chiming on a bell, the silvered dial with Roman numerals with radial design to the centre within the chapter ring and a "watered silk" ground, with two winding holes, the front glass sliding upwards to access the winding holes, all upon a Cavetto moulded base with inset rounded angles, all within an original leather and brass mounted travel case with plush interior, height 14.5 cm including handle, 11.6 cm excluding handle (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds on both trains. It is ticking away and striking when advanced. The case is in generally good order with only minor surface marks and slight perishing to the original lacquer particularly around the top edges of the case. The sliding glass door has a chip to the bottom right hand corner but this is barely visible when the door is in position. The silvered brass dial is showing some signs of deterioration particularly around the right hand winding aperture and there is some slight loss to the black on the Roman numerals. The outer case is scuffed and worn but serviceable. We do not have a key.

Lot 327

A mahogany bracket clock, circa 1775, by "Chas. Bayles, Margate" the silvered dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings beneath a strike and silent with a date aperture, with engrave foliate spandrels, having a double fusee movement striking on a bell, with foliate and scroll engraved backplate and brackets, with pear shaped pendulum behind a glazed door, the sides with pierced gilt brass scale grilles, all upon gilt bracket feet (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and appears to be ticking away and striking as it should. The strike/silent mechanism operates. The silvered dial is dirty and showing signs of deterioration to the silvering. The mask around the dial has numerous old stress fractures. The front door is not warped. It closes as it should. There are two stress fractures to the bottom right hand side but no timber loss. The sides of the case and grilles are in generally good order. The left hand side has a timber loss to the top right hand side of the grille and an old repair to the front right hand side. The section of veneer missing to the front left hand return is present. When in place there is only a very small 4 mm square section missing. The rear door is in good order. The movement as stated appears to be operating it is however fairly dirty. We have an incorrect winding key. There are various small unimportant veneer stress fractures to the domed top.

Lot 355

A Regency mahogany bracket clock, brass inlaid, marked "Deayton" and with partially engraved backplate, two-train striking movement. Height including finial 57.5 cm, case width 28 cm, dial diameter 20 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally very good condition with no significant issues. Minor problems are stress fractures to some of the veneers particularly in the front right hand bottom panel above the plinth base. There is no movement of the veneer however. All brasswork is present and original. The feet are original and are all in good order. The movement winds on both trains and seems to be ticking away and striking as it should when advanced. We have a winding key and the front door release key but not the rear door key. The rear door itself has had some veneer repair which should be clearly visible in our images.

Lot 389

An Edwardian brass carriage clock, timepiece only, Roman numerals. Height excluding carrying handle 15 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and the clock is ticking away. The case is generally very tarnished but all complete and in good structural order. The rear door is missing its handle. The glass panels are in good condition with no corner chips. The dial appears to be in good condition with no cracks. The pointers adjust as they should. We have the key but no case.

Lot 1020

A gilt metal door porter, 19th century, modelled as a bear and cub standing beside a beehive within a Gothic type ruin with sunflowers and foliage, handle surmounted with the Prince of Wales feathers, height 22 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The door porter is 22 cm high, 13.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm deep. This appears to be in good condition throughout. There are black marks throughout the item but we are unsure whether this is a fault from manufacture or just an accumulation of dirt. Overall it is an attractive example of its type.

Lot 1067

A cast bronze door knocker, 19th century, cast as a dolphin. 20 cm.

Lot 1088

A novelty inkwell in the form of a Veteran car, circa 1900/1910, with a cast metal body, the top of which is hinged to reveal an inkwell aperture "vacant", probably German, length 13 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally the metal is a uniform colour throughout. There is a small scuff mark to the door, this appears to have taken off the top chromium surface to reveal the alloy metal. There is a rust spot to the rear drivers side wheel which feels slightly rough under the finger. There is no inkwell to the interior. Round the rim where the inkwell would have sat there are two small rough patches revealing a yellow coloured metal, one immediately above the door and the other would be immediately beneath the steering wheel. There is a small indentation to the front right hand side wheel and a small rust spot on the base of the same wheel. Given all these faults it is generally in reasonably good condition throughout. The images will make the faults clearer.

Lot 1089

A novelty inkwell in the form of a Vintage car, circa 1900/1910, modelled with a driver wearing cap and goggles, the rear forming the inkwell with ceramic liner, 16 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The inkwell cover is loose and is not hinged. The inkwell cover has a few small dark patches where the final finish has rubbed off. It has a ceramic ink liner which is in good order. There is some rubbing to some of the high points along the passengers door and also to the rim of the cushioned back and further small patches of rub spots to the opposing door and side of the hood. All wheels have rubbing to them which may be visible from the emailed images. There is a small fingernail hole to the rear of the car. This hole has a larger darker patch framing it. There looks to be traces of glue throughout the underside and the edges are sharp to touch. There are two small tears to the metal approx 4 mm in length and if looking at a clock face one would be at 6 o'clock and one at 9 o'clock. All faults should be available to see on our web images.

Depth 54 cm, height 229 cm, width 213 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is in generally very good original condition. It does have some minor problems. The pediment is missing a section of moulding which should be visible on our image. At the left and right hand corners there is also a small piece of moulding missing. The cornice and crossbanded frieze are in good condition all around with no issues. The front right hand top door is missing its glass however this would easily mend as the panels at the rear are held in place by butterfly hinges which would easily remove and allow for the glazing. The doors close as they should and there is no significant warping. The right hand return moulding at the base of the top is missing. The carved frieze to the base is in good order all around. The sides of the base are also in very good condition. The base doors all close as they should and are not warped. There are marks and scuffs around the locks. The plinth base has a loss to the left hand front corner and has the usual marks and scuffs that one would expect. The backboards are all original and in good order. There is no evidence of any worm. The bookcase might actually look fine without the pediment.

The interior cloth lining is a little faded but in generally good condition. The top of the base is in good order as are the glazed panels and door. The only issue with the piece is to the base. The top left hand drawer has a section of the left hand oval back plate to the handle missing. The right hand side of the base has a small old veneer repair. Both sides are in good order however. The lock is present but we have no key. The sides of the trunk have old stress fractures but no significant issues. The base is in good order generally. Lot 221

A Japanese Kazaridana, Meiji period, each door and panel finely lacquered with lotus flowers in high and low relief, cranes, a preening hawk, a vase of flowers, ducks and geese, the grain of the panel used to great decorative effect, one handle formed as a fish, the other as a deity in a boat and with pierced fretwork decorative galleries, all on a simulated bamboo stand. Width 115 cm, height 135.5 cm, depth 31 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This item is generally in good structural condition, albeit a little dusty with some wear and tear commensurate with age. The top surface has various surface scratches and the top skin of lacquer is worn and erased. There is a 13 cm scratch to the top of the right hand side. The cabinet has numerous white paint spots throughout. The front edge of the top is worn away down to the natural wood. Hopefully these will be visible from our images. The right hand panel with preening bird has two splits to the woven effect mount. One directly at the bottom, approximately 5 cm long (if on a clock face at 6 o'clock) and the other to its right, approximately 11 cm long. The majority of the outer edges of the shelves and cabinet sections are worn down to the natural wood. Just below the two cupboard doors to the top on the left hand side, there is a small section of fretwork panel missing, the aperture for this bracket housing is 19 cm long and 7 cm high. I would guess that it is very similar to the shaped bracket below the upper right hand door decorated with birds and lily pads. The pair of doors on the bottom right hand corner appear to be in good order throughout, however, there is shrinkage to the left hand panel so that it does not sit perfectly flush within its frame. Also on the same door the upper left hand corner join is open. Each cabinet and drawer section shows signs of wear where the doors and drawers have been opened. Both sides have light surface scratches, however, on the left hand side there is a 13 cm diagonal crack in the top left hand corner. The pair of doors to the bottom left corner, the top of this section has a full length very fine split. Overall it does need some titivation, but you will end up with a fabulous piece of furniture.
