Hamley, Warwick Place, London, Longcase Clock Hamley, Warwick Place, London, early 19th century Regency, 8-day movement striking on single bell, circular white painted dial with Roman numerals, all contained in figured mahogany case, canopy with arched moulded cornice surmounted by a single brass finial, circular glazed door and side panels, quartered fluted columns with brass capitals, trunk with arched door, also flanked by quartered fluted columns, box base with single panel, standing on bracket feet.51cm wide, 24cm deep, 218cm highMovement has been refurbished, cheeks are original and have not been altered/built up. No breaks to the glass, the glass on the hood is bevelled but not convex. Dial has some small areas of craquelure, mainly to the edge and the 'IX' numeral. Case in good order with some knocks and small scratches to the surface. The case door opens and locks smoothly and sits flat to the case. A few small cracks to the mahogany hood and case but nothing major. Please see all images.
Joseph Kirk, Skegby, Longcase Clock Joseph Kirk, Skegby, early 18th century longcase clock, 8-day movement striking on a single bell, brass arched dial with a 31 day calendar date dial to arch, silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, subsidiary minutes dial above a makers plaque for 'Jos. Kirk, Skegby'. All contained in a walnut case with caddy top and three large turned finials to canopy, pierced carving to frieze, glazed door and side panels, trunk with four turned columns to the corners, long door inlaid with feather-banding and double mould with central bullseye glass panel, box base.51cm wide, 23cm deep, 250cm highAfter inspection the movement appears to have been restored at some point. The cheeks do not appear to be original and have been altered. The three finials are also later additions. There is also a break to the glass on the hood which can be seen in the online images. The bullseye in the case is flat and not convex. There are some cracks to the veneer on the case and a coupe of path repairs to the sides. The clock did not come with a key and we have not been able to open the trunk door. Please see all images.
